It's an op-ed. The point of it is that it is biased. Bill Keller is writing about that part of the state through his filter and by being on the opinion page, that's to be understood by the reader.
Saying an op-ed column is biased is like saying Frank Solich is biased towards Ohio football on The Frank Solich Show.
But I do think online sources need to mark opinion pieces better. The physical newspaper makes the separartion between the editorial and opinion content much clearer. Online it's one giant melange of editorial and opinion with very little separation.
This would never be anywhere near the front of the NY Times. Online, it's sitting on the home page.
The quest for pageviews muddies that important line of objectivity online.
