at least five buildings involved. Some injuries but none indicated as very serious. University working with students about 30 who were displaced. Much more including pictures in Post on line.

Definitely looks to be bad. Baiscally from The Union to the Uptown Dog/Jack Neal looks to be trashed, with roofs collapsed. Those may all have to come down.

Apparently Jackie O's has already said they're mostly smoke and water damage, and will operate in their pre-Skippers purchase ways (bar only/no food) for the forseeable future.

I hope all of the businesses recover as quickly as possible, and the students affected are able to get back on their feet as soon as possible as well.

Can't believe it.
My wife and I were Athens for the weekend.
Bought a tee-shirt at Uptown Dog and had dinner at Jackie O's on Sat.night.

Was very happy to hear there no serious injuries.

As an engineer,I can tell you that, from a "firematics' perspective, fires in those types of old buildings can be tough to battle.

The store Homage is running a promotion where any purchase of Ohio gear that is made online TODAY, 100% of the proceeds are going to those affected by the fire. They are partnering with the OU Alumni Association in this effort.
