Lack of institutional control?

Death penalty?

Summary dismissals?

Years of results/championships forfeited?

Coaches have plausible deniability?

This one has it all and we're only getting started.

UNC may have a bigger problem to deal with then athletics.
According to articles out here, over half the students involved in the "Shadow Curriculum" were non-athletes ,so now they're looking into the "academic integrity" of the institution.

Right now there are, let me call them, admin/academics at other institutions sweating bullets waiting for the light to turn their way. We are used to athletic departments self-reporting which we eventually hear about. These type of academic situations will quietly be swept under a rug.

UNC certainly took it too far with these classes, but every school has classes that are a huge joke. I'm sure we can all recall some at OU that are borderline. Obviously not as bad as these classes, but joke classes are certainly on every campus.

I still fondly recall my 1-credit bowling class in the old Baker Center. I sprained my ankle that quarter playing basketball, so I spent each class just keeping score with a pitcher of beer.

I've heard that there are similar cases ready to "pop" at several other institutions of higher learning.

Or remember "Consumer Electronics". I took it Winter or Spring Qtr '78. The curriculum essentially was how to hook up components and make your stereo work (turntable, amp, tuner, speakers). It was an athlete friend in fact who told me about the class. Lot of really big and tall dudes in the class......

According to an article in The Post a couple of weeks ago,the Student Senate is thinking about getting rid of "Robert's Rules of Order" because no one seems to understand them.

Maybe O.U. should bring this class back.

While there are certainly some very easy courses out there, there is a difference between an easy class that at least requires minimal work and study, and a fake class that exists in name only and is a guaranteed A for a money sport athlete.
