My wife will not be able to make the trip for Mom's weekend and has a room available April 4 and April 5 if any mom's out there need a room.   They're going to kill us on the cancellation charges at this point so if anyone is looking for a room, pm me.   Thanks.

What are the cancellation charges?  I'd like to take this up with the university administration.  You're more than two weeks out for heavens sake and they have a wait list from here to Hawaii.

Alan

As I am sure you know the University does not own or operate the OU Inn

It is accurate the Inn is owned by the Foundation not the University. The Foundation has it's own Board of Directors. The Inn is operated by a management company again not the university.

David - all I can say is "wow."  From the president elect of the board of trustees I was hoping for a better answer.  All of the loyal bobcat club members on this board give to Ohio University, not the foundation.  Technically they may be seperate entities but in reality it's one big pocket - the foundation collects the money and gives it to the university.  What I was hoping to hear was "as the recipient of foundation funds, I'd be more than happy to look into any predatory or unusual practices."   i could go on but I'll hold additional comments at this time.  Let's just say I'm disappointed by the corportate speak.

As a slightly OT aside, one of the most interesting FIOA (Freedom of Information Act) cases in Ohio was the result of the University of Toledo Foundation"s claim several years ago that as a private foundation their records were not subject to FOI requests.  The Ohio Supreme Court disagreed and said that since the UT Foundation's sole reason for being was to support UT that it had to comply with FIO requests. I don't recall the details, but the UT Foundation was trying to prevent disclosure of some of their big donors who wanted to remain anonymous, or something of that general nature.

Call it what you want the Foundation is OHIO University. When we give $$$ to departments it is run through the foundation. OCF, you are spot on with the Toledo ruling.
