New turf to Pruitt according to WOUB and all Field Hockey games are on the road. But worse yet is there is no place for them to practice. I feel for those Seniors and all the girls on the team.

When the old turf was removed it was discovered that the surface underneath would not support the installation of the new turf. About $500,000 more was just approved to correct that problem, hence the delay in having the field ready. Total cost went from about 1.7 million to about 2.25 million.

Found this picture of the new turf.  Looks nice.  My daughter played in the Virginia State Championships at the United States Field Hockey Center in Virginia Beach.  They have the same " new and improved /old style" astroturf which is preferred over field turf which is too slow.

They normally water the fields about an hour before the games.  The Virginia Beach complex has four huge "cannons" in each corner that water the field.
