Interestingly, Sheetz has been ahead of the curve in American fast-food in adopting point-of-sale terminals which eliminate a cashier taking your order and rely on the customer to place their order on a touchscreen ordering device. This allows the humans to focus on making the food right away.

Sheetz has pulled it off well. Very quick and easy ordering. They still have a cashier taking payment, although I would assume that'll be the next step integrated into the terminals.

I LOVE the computerized ordering system at places like Sheetz (or the cafeteria at the hospital I work at, or the sandwich place we'd frequently go to in Buffalo/Grad School. So much quicker (And less frustrating) than dealing with even a skilled/competent order taker at those places!
