They are still developing the "master plan" but I came across this summary which has some interesting maps/renderings of what is planned for campus.

I really, really like what they are doing with what they called "The Sweep" on those maps you can already see that forming with the new dorms South Green Drive.

Thanks a TON for sharing that, some completely awesome info in that, and really shows that OHIO has its "stuff" together in long term space/facilities planning.

Huge eureka for me: Holy Hell is there a lot of land at The Ridges! Had no idea the open space was that extensive, and would love to see how that will be utilized.

Thanks again!

I never realized how much was back up over that hill either. Also, the land out on east state street along the river...is that land that is retail developed. It looks to be where Lowes or the old Athens Mall is situated? Wondering what the annual income/rent is if that is the case.

It used to be the university airport. As it was developed as commercial real estate, I believe that the university still owns most of it and receives the rental income from the land that is being used.

This rendering in the News shows in detail where they plan to place new buildings. The big surprise is a welcome center in front of the Convo instead of a practice facility. The administration wants to move the Medical college over to West Union street to reconvert West Green to dorms, scaling back the new dorms planned on South Green. At the base of the ridges it appears to be the OU Inn Suites and the renovation of smaller buildings for shops. 22 new campus buildings overall.

Yes and there is talk of selling that to put the money in for a joint partnership ridges redevelopment project that would include some retail and a hotel. The administration I bet will try a commercial partnership to build that medical school out on West Union.
