Last night, WOSU reran a one-hour show produced for Ohio's bicentennial by Cleveland's public TV station. It was disappointing to see that the ONLY mentions of higher education in Ohio was (1) the O$U football team and (2) the killings at Kent. I think Ohio has more colleges and universities per capita than any other state. Yet the station -- which, I don't think, is associated with a college -- couldn't come up with 30 seconds to talk about Ohio, Oberlin, Antioch or any of the other great schools in the state. But they managed to have two singers from Ohio Village sing several really pitiful songs. I was reaching for the barf bag about the fourth or fifth one. I realize the show is 13 years old and there's nothing to do about it. But if anybody out there is thinking about doing a series on Ohio history, please, please include a discussion of the state's great institutes of higher learning.
