My wife and I have a tradition of watching the Inauguration Parade.

Does anyone know how the marching band or drum corps from each state is selected ?

For the upcoming parade? Probably based on band members' nationality and religion.

Or tapping on those locked doors.

BTW the election as history, I can't help wondering if Bill and Hillary will remain married.

My thought also, Mike.

The 110 won't be at the parade since any instructions as to where to go to participate will be, as always, fantasy and lies.

I suspect they'll remain married. It's been a marriage of business expediency for what, 30 years? I don't see a divorce serving their bottom line, so why do it?

I was going to put (not political) in the title, but I didn't think I had to.
Guess I was wrong.

So getting back to my original post, does anyone know how the bands/drum corps are selected.

I know both the 110 and OSU have been in them.
Just wondered how that happens.

Go figure...I googled it. It looks like groups apply and are selected.

"Today, the parade is organized by the Joint Task Force-National Capital Region, and participants are selected by the Presidential Inaugural Committee. Requests to participate in Inauguration Day events for marching bands, marching units, mounted units, and other performers are collected by the Joint Task Force-National Capital Region."

Honestly don't know how, but I suspect they have some sort of audition. Maybe a place where you can send a performance tape. Just a guess.

I had "googled' this too.

The thing is,it mentions a congressman, senator, governor etc. acting as a "sponsor" for a group. That appears to carry more "weight" then a group applying themselves.

I would have thought that each state made the selection of who would represent them in the parade.
