This is old news to all of you closer to the situation I'm sure, but I just read in an Athens News article that Pres.McDavis was not "seeking retirement". He has been an avid supporter of Ohio athletics, so what does his "retirement" mean for the future of athletics here? Any thoughts ?

I don't think there's anything to read into it other than he presumably wanted to move on from here and that he wants another post elsewhere. Supposedly went for the Missouri job and didn't get it.

The next president will be a wildcard in terms of support of athletics, but the trustees seem to favor strong support, so that may show their hand a bit when it comes to choosing a successor.

He finished the fundraising drive and got the new master plan approved steering the school through its major financial decisions over the next 15-20 years. It sounds like the reason he stayed more than 10 was to finish up the initiatives he had ongoing. The next administration I wouldn't be shocked if they were more aggressive toward investing in athletics than McDavis.

Anyone know anything about the status of the search?

I presume that the next Pres won't have a background of ties to OHIO UNIVERSITY?

Currently in a little tisk with the local media for claims of violating the States Sunshine Laws
