Faculty Senate is too busy whining about how I choose to donate my money to spend time meeting with students.

I think they are commenting on what they perceive to be the university's priorities not how you choose to donate your money.

There is no way growing the undergraduate to 20,000 is going to help the same amount of professors serve students.

Is "financial aid not so great" a subjective question in this poll? Seems like it could be decided in a different, more objective manner.

Maybe it is and I'm just not up on things. But to put that next to a party ranking seems odd to me.

Financial aid. Now there is the greatest scam ever played upon the populace and a source of a trillion dollars of debt. I saw a statistic the other day about the percentage of people in their 50s still paying student loans. Readily available cash has allowed colleges and universities to spend spend spend with no accountability. This house of cards will someday come to a crashing conclusion. Financial aid. Bah humbug.

The entire ratings system is dumb. It's all subjective and has no basis in reality.

Once again, it doesn't happen often, but I'm right with Alan on this one!

The Princeton Review lists are pretty silly. That being said, I don't dismiss rankings. Some are better than others, but there are differences in quality between universities. Things like the quality of the faculty, financial resources and how bright and competitive your fellow students are does matter, and it's not unreasonable to attempt to quantify that. Is there much difference between Harvard and Chicago? Probably not, outside of which is a better fit, Is there much difference between Chicago and Bowling Green. Of course there is.
