Pretty good responses. Suffice to say that in spite of an awesome student body and an active music scene....there was not a really strong student radio station that introduced progressive and college based rock. That is interesting in it's absence but even cooler in the the fact that students found a way to provide music....and interesting that ACRN and Oak are truly OHIO based terms.
The opposite of Athens actually had an excellent prog rock station for a while. 97X in Oxford also had its 15 minutes of fame in "Rain Man" when Dustin Hoffman repeats its ad over and over.

I had a air shift on WOUB once during which I played bagpipe music. Boy did I catch hell for that! [I still like bagpipe music.]
Bagpipes,music ?

I like an occasional bagpipe selection,Amazing Grace and Scotland The Brave come to mind.
But I couldn't listen to them for an extended period.
I guess it must be an acquired taste. ;-)
Kind of like haggis ?
That's a taste I never acquired, though I've been in Scotland twice.

Well, swabbie, I've never been to Spain but I kinda like the music.

Have to seek out craft beers? Seriously?

I was just up in the Finger Lakes area of Western New York on vacation and even though that area is famous for wine, there were like a zillion micro-breweries in that area between Rochester and Syracuse. Check it out:

Appreciate the links.

Some of us come from a time when you used to turn the dial to find music. It was not
at your finger tips like it is now. Finding a local college radio station was an art

Likewise with beer. When microbrewed beers were a home hobby and Sam Adams was just someone s bright new idea. Leinenkugels was 3.50 a case and was a brewery in Wisconsin making blue collar beer..... And it was not a " craft" beer. It was just suds.

I remember seeing a wall of microbrewed beers occupying a multitude of taps in Seattle in the early 90s and listening to bar tenders talk about the future of the microbrewery and an industry that was in the process of being born
