I don't know about his popularity outside the two coasts and Chicago. I just moved back to Cincinnati so I'll weigh in on that after living here for awhile. But the vast majority of that tour revenue came from the U.S. When you're doing an extended stadium tour like he did I don't expect the nosebleeds to be sold out in every stadium. I don't think any artist could do that. Fact of the matter is it was the top grossing tour of 2016 and he sold out a ton of arenas and stadiums all over the country. I think your opinion might be shaded by your dislike of Bruce's politics ;)
Politics has nothing to do with my feeling on this.
Like I posted,I've seen Bruce over 70 times.
I go back to the Greetings days.
I've seen at least 1 show, for every tour since BITUSA.
I saw him before that, but not every tour.
Went to all 10 nights at GS and the 3 nights at Shea on The Rising tour
I think that qualifies me as a pretty loyal fan.
I don't know when you first started seeing Bruce, but would venture you don't go back as far.
When you first become a fan of any band, that affects how you look at their music.
He's never kept his political leanings a secret.
Although he did become more vocal about his leanings, starting with BITUSA.
The fact that I disagree with his politics doesn't take away from the fact that I like his music.
That being said, based on my experience the quality of his music and his popularity are far from what they used to be.
No different then most artists.
I remember when YES played to sellouts at the Garden.
Last week they played a theater (NJPAC).
You also can't expect the same energy from someone in his late 60's as when they were in their 30's.
The closest I saw him come to this were the 3 shows at Metlife last year, especially night 3.
You said you like Wrecking Ball, but can that compare to BTR,Darkness,Nebraska or Joad ?
I'm not alone in my opinion.
Check out Backstreets or Greasy Lake.
Those sites are die hard Bruce fans, most of whom share his political views.
You'll see a lot of people feel the same way I do.
Don't get me wrong,if he tours again,I'll go.
But I don't know how many times.
