As you might imagine, I think it's ridiculous. Not only do I think it's a waste of money, but it sends the wrong message to the so called "student athletes". I think pro football teams do that, but these guys are not pros, or are they? It sends the message that they can't be trusted to do the right thing and get to bed on time to be ready for the game the next day. More micro managing. I guess when they get older and have a wife and kids, if they have a big meeting at work the next day they'll be spending the night before in a hotel. Don't need those distractions.

i wonder how the volleyball team won like 10 MAC championships/tournament championships in a row sleeping in their own beds the night before a match or in some cases two.

Was talking to a friend of mine about this yesterday.

He thinks players staying in a hotel is a good idea.

Why ?

No "temptations" on the night or 2 before a game.
He mentioned things like "mischief" (He said stealing things like
rim covers),drinking,womanizing ,etc.

Wait a second,these are adults.
You should know your responsibilities as a player.
You shouldn't have top baby sit them.

Then again,when I played soccer for O.U. ,we didn't

even get to stay in a hotel for the occasional overnight away game.

We got put up in a dorm on the opposing team's campus.

Don't know when you played soccer, but one of the first stories I covered for The Post in 1980 or '81 was the elimination of the soccer program due to the team's vandalism of their on bus during a road trip to Miami.

The "inside" story was that President Ping was so irritated by the episode that he demanded that the AD kill the program. Ping swooped in several times to expel athletes (mostly football players) who were trashing OU property. I believe he also was the Prez who vetoed upgrading the hockey program to varsity status based on his experiences attending a few games in Bird Arena.
