NYT reports this morning that there is a nation wide 16% drop in attendance.
That may be, but OU has been operating with a deficit for quite some time. When I was there a decade ago, I remember a report in the student paper that said that OU was operating something like $30-40 million in the red. Since they've apparently been expanding their administrative staff and giving more and more to coaching salaries to keep them (and I say that as an avid sports fan), it makes sense that this trend has only continued.
