I didn't really know Mitchell, although I did meet him once in the early 1980s. He was a mainstay on the Ohio University campus as well as the city of Athens for four decades. Of everything that his obituary mentioned about his life accomplishments, the one I didn't expect but found most intriguing was that he visited all 30 MLB parks with his sons.

Would love to hear first-hand stories from any BA poster concerning Mitchell.

When I think of Bruce, I think of the line Springsteen said in his closing remarks in 1987 at the tribute concert for Harry Chapin at Carnegie Hall - "do something."

I first met Bruce in the early/mid 80s when I was asked to MC the kids costume contest at Halloween on Court Street in front of what is now the diner. He was always on the move, always doing something and more often than not, pushing buttons to get positive things done. His A News was the investigative paper in town and it's sorely missed today.
