Back in the day a single recruiting day was like Christmas for recruiting nuts like myself,
There was a big hype with videos of those who signed,
We had a presentation where the public attended and listened to coaches give info on the new recruits.
Now it’s just another day at the office. Recruits do announce their choices at the local high school, but for the recruiting fan it’s just a I’ll sleep in kinda day.
Is it because of the double recruiting daze?
The NIL crap?
The transfer portal stuff?
Staff reduction?
COVID?
The death of newspapers?
Would rather watch Yellowstone?
Video games?
All of the above (or at least most of the above).
I thought that we had a day after the late signing period where all the recruits were then highlighted one by one by the staff. Anyway, you have tapped into the many reasons that it’s not just the same as the old February signing day frenzy. We’re in the middle of the bowl season as well as the holiday period as OCF stated.
I’m just wondering how the big programs can sign over 25 high school players? Do some of them attend early and don’t count for next year. There’s definitely a lot of opening at those places with all the players transferring out or opting out of bowl games by NFL candidates.
