Anyone have a ballpark number of how many will be in the 2022 class?

I know it's a mess with graduating seniors/super seniors and the transfer portal.

After the early signing date tomorrow, I'm waiting for Doc's analysis of the quality of the recruiting class at that point, realizing that we may get some more in February. Doc, the pressure is on. Your adorning fans will hang on every word in your analysis! ;-)

Good start with the 8 guys so far today. Based on past, we tend to get signings early and that’s it. We’ll see what happens the rest of the early signing period, but we are going to need a lot more signings during the late signing period in February or we are going to be short handed going forward.
Up to 10 I think. One thing for sure, we’ve got the state of Mississippi covered.

The pressure is on.

I will offer my Peter Pan Advice Half Class Analysis soon.

With only ten I’m sure this class will more than double with transfers and JUCOS and high school players.

I get the need for junior college transfers. But only three high school kids. And only one from Ohio? After 15 years with this staff have we been unable to develop solid relationships with Ohio high school football coaches? As a Cincinnatian, I am glad to see we finally recruited a GMC athlete. We need to be better recruiting GMC and GCL kids from southwest Ohio. Teams from these leagues are always some of the best in Ohio.

Not a single MAC team has a firm ownership of either conference once OSU and UC get their guys. If you want offensive linemen and tight ends, the GCL South is a treasure chest.

Such a hidden treasure that no school/University has even heard of those schools like X, Elder, Moeller and LaSalle. Maybe someday coaches will finally notice those players.

Agree. I love big school Ohio HS players. One sleeper to follow is St. Edward Standout from the 21’ Class, CJ Hankins, ILB. Transfer (funding) All-Ohio, Eds All-time tackle leader. Twitter is talking he wants to go to Ohio very bad. Ohio could land him as a Walk-on game changer. His former Coach said while he is a very quiet person, on game day he is a monster. I do agree with that after seeing what he did to Miyan Williams. He will not take Pitt or Vanderbilt walk-on, or FCS Offers for financial reasons, and will remain in-state. He is a great kid, with a great story. Early on he was recruited by many big schools but never grew past 5’11. A true run stuffer. If Ohio can get him and other big school players they will be better off IMO.

Hey Billy, I think Luke Fickell knows where the talent in Cincinnati is! Somethings like 40 of the players on the roster or from the city. Most from the GCL and GMC.

After 20+ years on this board, I'd like to think some of you would figure out that I am very sarcastic.

Sorry Billy, I guess I should have known you are aware of the good high school football played in Cincy! Why do you think our staff hasn’t tried harder to get some of them?

Staff's make strategical decisions on where they think there is talent and talent that they can get. Every staff is like this. Look at TOS and Groce, they went to areas they knew. In football, lots of times they mine areas that the staff had success with previously. Part of the void of the Nati has been the competition, we've landed players over the years from the region, but we've never had much success with the GCL bluebloods, so we've largely focused on areas we have ties.

Very true . . . going back to Bill Hess, he had connections in Western Pennsylvania and recruited heavily there. I don't think we've recruited that area nearly as hard since, though we have had some good players in this present century from WPA, including a trio of players from Altoona back early in the Solich Era. As and aside, this may be why Hess was offered the head coaching position at the U of Pittsburgh, which he turned down.

I don't think Western PA has the same quality of players it did back then. The best players of that era were from the mill towns on the Mon and Ohio rivers (Ditka, Namath, Montana, etc.). Their populations have shrunk immensely since the 1960s.
