Ohio has received a verbal commitment from Georgia Miltary JC tight end Tyler Knight. The 6-5, 265-pounder (4.65 forty) picked Ohio over offers from Memphis and Ole Miss. Knight is scheduled to graduate in March of 2011 with three years to play two.

Knight originally committed to Auburn out of Leesburg (GA) High School as a sign-and-place. Which meant that Auburn would place him in a JUCO (Knight lacked enough core courses) and then he would play for them in 2011. Not sure what happened there but Auburn seems to no longer be in the picture.

Sounds like a great add.  Wonder how that happened.  Does he have any Ohio connections?

If Tyler comes in focussed, he can leave here with a great degree and he has an excellent shot at a NFL career with that size and speed.

I wouldn't recommend Googling (is that officially a verb?) "Tyler Knight" while at work...

Another great get. I don't recall having 5 verbals this early into the year. Am I mistaken or are we doing a great job picking these things up earlier this year than in the past?

He is credited with .8 catches per games played. He also made 6 tackles. I am assuming special teams. Liking that. TE with more tackles per games than receptions, seriously, I do like that from a freshman, liking 6'5" 260 tearing up the special teams.

The stats listed on the link are different from those I found at the Georgia Military College site. Georgia Military's site credited him with five games played, four catches for fortyone yards and six tackles.

What a great get, anytime we out recruit an SEC program, it's a win. Things are moving along smoothly on the recruiting front, could this be in part to the new recruiting coordinator? Either way, welcome aboard Tyler! Can he play this year?

T-Rodge, the way I'm reading it is that he is still in school in Georgia until next spring, then comes to us with two years of eligibility (over three years).

Navarro 27, GMC 7.

Tyler registers a catch for 5 yards.

Next up for 0-1 Georgia Military College is a home game against Snow College.  Snow was ranked 8th in the preseason poll above, and is 1-0 after an 80-6 shellacking of Columbia Basin.

Edit: The latest NJCAA top 20 poll indicates another tough challenge for GMC.  Snow checks in at #5.  GMC has fallen out of the top 20 down to the others receiving votes, which would loosely equate to a #24 ranking.
