Tooling around the West Side the other day and probed a little info from someone who had recently spoken to the LB. Story I heard was that the soft verbal is pretty solid. Not only does Mr. Russell like Ohio he also is intrigued by the possibility of playing early. Had just come back from Northwesten when he decided to verbal to the Bobcats.

Good to hear.  "Defense Wins Championships," I hope Ohio becomes known for great D and recruits see it as a place to have fun.

Man this kid can lay the lumber. And from looking at the video, he's doing so with great form tackling, and not leading with the head.

Oak Hills and Ben Russell will open the season against Anderson Friday night at Nippert Stadium as part of the Cincinnati Crosstown Showdown.  Oak Hills went 3-7 last year, while Anderson went 12-1 in 2009.  Anderson boasts at least two verbals that I found easily.  4-star tackle Andrew Norwell (ESPN:80) to Ohio State, and another tackle Greg Mancz (ESPN:40) who verballed to Toledo.

FWIW...Norwell and Mancz were 2010 recruits.

Ted, you once again came through on the pics. Anyone who gets a chance to watch this kid play before he becomes a BOBCAT is lucky. He has the capability to play right away from what ive heard and what you just showed us ! holy linebaker!

Season preview for Oak Hills.  Only a mention of Russell, but nice overall write-up on the team looking to rebound from 3-7 in 2010.

Not ready to turn the middle over to him until Edwards and Stefanski have their turns. If he can come in and take the job from them Ohio will really have something.

Next year's team may be the deepest at every position of any team in Ohio football history.
