Either of the QB's would be great......Watson would be a nice addition as would any of the CB's and Tandy.......Bodenstein has committed to Kansas.....Pendleton had a broken leg to end his season this year.

Why then was Vick reportedly our number one priority for the entire recruiting class?

Not sure how to rate Allen. Glad to have him at Ohio, he is a winner and that is huge. Better or worse than Vick??????? I would like to have Vick or Williams too. Would be nice to have two, one to red shirt, one not. Great thing about these athlete/QBs is that they can contribute somewhere else if QB does not work out, Do I remember Green Bay's WR Nelson under center in college?

My dream ending is one more offensive lineman (Lucas Powell)...and any running back from Florida.

Looks like we're also going head-to-head with Toledo for an o-lineman out of the Cincy area.

Not many scholarships left, but as you see with the Jackson thing, you want to keep on keepin on.

Too bad we can't oversign like those folks down in Troy, lol.

If I told you, I'd have to...

We'll just see. Think grades might be an issue anyway.

What are opinions as to why Marshall has over twice as many 3 star recruits vs Ohio?  Better conference, take marginal students, what's the deal?

I've been noticing Marshall's class building up.  Wow. 1-4 star and 9 3-stars so far.  They were 66th in nation before the latest 4 and 3 star  guys.  Will likely end up in top 60 anyway.  Since we recruit so many of the same guys, it can't be character issues.  Let's face it, the MAC stinks, it's amazing we get the 3-star guys we do in many ways.  Sure coaching the guys counts for a lot, but I would not compain if we had 9 3-star guys and 1 -4-star at the end.  The MAC is real near the bottom, recruiting wise, but if we can get our share of the competitive guys, like we seem to be doing this year, we'll end up with more talent than the rest of the MAC.  That's a start, and add in the staff and its longevity and that's pretty good as far as being competitive in the MAC.

Edit-this is the third guy with offers from Marshall &Ohio who has verballed to Marshall.

Why would we be surprised by Marshall is recruitting well? Doc always stirred the drink in Rich Rod's recruitting. He is applying the same principles and throwing in some Marshall basics. Recruit Virginia and go to Florida to get speed and guys who fall through the cracks. To say some of them are borderline kids as far as background goes or academics goes, oh well never bugged them at WVU. Ever hear of Adam Jones or Chris Henry? How about Noel Devine? That isn't saying they didn't bring in four times as many quality people but let's just say a few of these guys weren't in it to pursue degrees and didn't come with baggage.

I was at lunch with several Marshall fans, and this very conversation came up. The Marshall fans conceded that a lot of it has to do with the ranking services being biased towards certain fan bases. Basically, if your Rivals board is larger and more active, Rivals will bump your recruits up just to stoke the fan base. Marshall doesn't have the largest Rivals board, but they have one, and we don't. That may be part of it.

But I do agree that the MAC is a factor. From top to bottom, CUSA is a better conference. The analysts just can't accurately rate all the recruits coming out of high school. If a recruit lands in CUSA, the rankers are more likely to give him more stars than a recruit that lands in the MAC. We always see the 3 star guys that become 2 stars when they come to the MAC, and the 3 star guys that become 4 stars when they wind up 4th string on a Big Ten team.

It's a racket. Wins, not recruiting stars, are the ultimate measuring stick. Marshall fans were absolutely pumped at the beginning of last season because of their supposedly awesome (by Marshall standards) recruiting class. Ask any Marshall fan today if they would give up that class for a winning season last year, and I guarantee they would rather win than recruit well.

Marshall does better in the recruiting rankings but has a really difficult time landing those diamond in the rough knid of guys that make a team great like Noah Keller. I would note that the big physical wide receivers that gave Marshall an advantage in the 90's are now signing with Ohio.

I would like to see at least one more QB and RB in this class to build some depth. The day is here that this program has to be able to rely on QB's recruited out of high school instead of transfers. RB position on this team could use more talent.
