Rivals has us 7th in the MAC out of 13.

We have 11 commits and Ball State has 16 so that puts them in first place.

For many years I've looked at a certain MAC class and said "wish we had that class".

Not this year.

Of those 16 I wonder how many stay after Parrish got the gate?

I don't think we are that high nationally but beating out BCS schools for players is becoming a regularity. We aren't landing blue chippers but often 3 stars and ocassionally a 4 star guy (B. Jackson, Lechner). I see us beating Toledo and Miami regularly for recruits too, two of the better MAC schools. The best MAC level recruits are starting to come to the best program. The coaching continuity and the shift in cluture away from a FCS type philosophy of cutting every corner and only taking in-state players like it was early in the Grobe years has helped. You have to keep in mind that the average recruit was something like 2 years old when Grobe started coaching at Ohio and like 12 when Frank was hired. They don't remember the dark days of Ohio football like many on this board.

I remember the "dark" days!  I don't ever wann a go back there.

According to Scout.com we appear to be near the top of the MAC but I think overall we are like 86 or 88.  I believe to be in the Top 50-75 we need AT LEAST 5-3star type recruits a year.

This year, we have 1-3 star recruit out of the 10 total recruits.  This is why we may be near the top in MAC recruiting but not be able to compete at the CUSA level  (UCF with 7-3star recruits and So Miss with 4).

So, lets's set a goal of those 5-s3 star recruits and then get them!

According to Rivals, the addition of Eric Price is the fourth 3-star commit to date (the most in the MAC so far). When you consider that Rivals has yet to grade five recruits (they will eventually grade everybody) and add Brandon Purdum, I would conclude that Ohio has a top 3 recruiting class in the MAC.

One last thing to keep in mind, Landon Cohen (7th Round 2008), Mike Mitchell (2nd Round 2009), and Taylor Price (3rd Round 2010), were all 2-star Bobcat commits according to Rivals. This coaching staff does a great job of finding and developing underrated talent.

P.S.

Hopefully that state of the art indoor practice facility that's on the way will help Ohio close the deal on some more talented recruits by the time February 3 (Official Signing Day) roles around.

I guess I'll start looking at Rivals.com when I want to feel better!

I understand identifying and developing talent but the bottom line is we need to get MORE of the 3 star type recruits and according to Rivals we are.
