All 3 of these players have been listed as DE's, but that's not where they'll necessarily end up. These are 3 good gets and our DL needs are being addressed.

Andrew Bennett

Li
sted by Scout as a TE Bennett looks to be solid DL get. With his 4.7 speed he can rush the passer and is 240-250 now with the ability to play both end positions. All 3 of these guys could also bulk up and play inside DL.

Justin Haser

Listed anywhere from 230-245 it looks like he may end up on the interior DL. He has the motor and strength to play inside and we need some depth there.

Recruiting battle win over UConn

Brandon Purdum

Maybe the most interesting verbal in the fact that  he seems to be equally good at OL or DL.  After watching his films he looks to be an interior G/C  type who can pull and create pancakes galore. Has sub 5.0 speed so he compares well to our All Mac lineman Flading.

I like how Solich is adding more speed and athleticism to the DL/DE positions. This year too Ohio looks like its winning the majority of its MAC recruiting battles. Frank Solich is now the dean of MAC coaches going into his 7th season at Ohio with more wins and bowls than any other coach. Its no longer what Frank is going to do at Ohio its what Frank has already done.

3 very big gets.

Could all the support for the bowl game have been the final push for these guys?

Our D needs (Disruptive Lineman Monroe) continue to be met with the addition of Brad Spivey.  Listed at about 6'3" 1/2 and 265 pounds we get a lineman who played linebacker in high school at about 240 and was quite the pass rusher. With his size he could easily bulk up to play inside as well.

Of the other new D-lineman we could see at least one play immediately. Coupled with the above mentioned JUCO Spivey, we have 2  new players to add to the defensive rotation for next year. With 4 rotation players returning (Huynh-Jones-Myers-Scott) that means maybe 2 redshirts or out of last year's rotation players could contribute among guys like King-Tarrant-Kozak-Oglesbee-Hastings-Taylor.

Of the 3 Bennett may have the edge to play right away because of his 6'6" size and 4.7 speed.  The other two however (Haser and Purdom) shouldn't be taken lightly. Haser may be moved inside and Purdom can play just about anywhere on the offensive or defensive line.

4 big and fast DE/DLs verbals in the last week is pretty exciting. Ohio really needs to go out and sign a pair of Fullbacks to finish out the recruiting class. Plenty of slot guys in the program, really need some BIGMANZ to run the ball.
