Rivals.com is reporting that McDowell HS (Erie, PA) defensive end Andrew Bennett has narrowed his list to Miami (OH) and Ohio. The 6-6, 240-pounder has made an official visit to Ohio and attended a game at Miami. He will visit Miami on December 14th.

Excerpt:
"I've narrowed it down to those two. I'd say I'm leaning more towards Ohio just because I had a really fun time there. I'm not 100-percent, though."

Considering Andrew had offers from Toledo and Miami, this is a great pick-up. Glad we're keeping the in state foe's hands off of the out of state talent.

It lists him as TE but the title lists him as DE. What will he most likely play when he gets to campus?

DE......but it is nice to have someone who can play more than one position.  We already have one TE commit and we return all of our TE's from this year.....with good things expected from Troy Hill as well as returning starter Jordan Thompson and 2 others..

Can he be with some bulking the kind of athletic DE with a passion for rushing the passer?

The game picture I saw had him gritting his teeth!!!

But seriously folks.... as far as DE's go he could in the  future fit the Nebraska mold.....6'6"....260 plus......motor won't  quit.  Looks like a good get.

The thing you have to keep in mind is that DE's aren't just for rushing the QB, though that is important. They have critical responsibilities on reverses, options, and screen passes. They also sometimes drop back into zone pass coverage while others blitz. You will notice that Ohio often moves guys back and forth from MLB to DE - its an athletic position, but it also requires intelligence and a good understanding of the whole defense. I like seeing DE's in the 240-260lb range, with 4.6-4.7 speed. This guy looks like a good fit.

Can anyone speak to the level of competition? Chases plays to the whistle. Some plays at OT looked good too. Seems bigger than the listed weight. Any info on if he plays other sports, BB or track? Starting to see some taller DTs would not be suprised to see this one up to 290 or 300 and working inside.

Doc--the article says (first sentence) that he's a disruptive defensive lineman!  Wants mechanical engineering--brains is good.
