Ohio has received a verbal commitment from St. Patrick (Chicago, IL) High School offensive lineman Mike Lucas. The 6-4, 300-pounder also had interest from BC, Illinois, Indiana, NIU, WMU, Wisconsin and Wyoming.

This is an interesting verbal.  He is not even in the Scout and ESPN databases, but has all the different recruiters from 5 schools listed at Rivals.  That is strange. Anyway, with every signing, you have something to chew on about what the coaches are thinking about depth, sleepers out there, etc.

I noticed that he is a two year starter at Center for his H.S. team. Makes me wonder what the advantage of someone with experience at that position is, versus a converted OL? I think we only have one true center returning from last years squad.
Has good size and quick feet at  this point of his development. It also appeaars that his High School is in a competitive Chicago H.S. athletic conference.

I don't watch enough film to evaluate well.  And who doesn't look good in a highlight reel?  But this lad's team looks polished and he performs.

Doc, are we talkin' "good get" here or what?!

This might be one of the longest scouting videos I've seen.  I guess this is our replacement for Brandon Jackson.  Not sure why he's not listed on Scout or ESPN, but his size looks legit and I never complain about recruiting big OL guys.

The services rely on the players/parents/coaches to provide information/stats/videos. No info etc., no rating. Lots of athletes are not rated. If the family is not involved in the process and the coaches don't bother with it, then, the player will be under the radar. Lots of times players really develop late in the senior year and violla just another hs hero is all of a sudden college material.

As Colorado mentioned this one is a tad strange....strange in the fact that on rivals when you see the names of 5 or so coaches who have contacted the guy then normally you see  a verbal or two.

Seems to be a good get however as you can't coach size and you can't control the competition that he faced....in other words good size and good level of competition......gotta love anyone that goes to a school named St. Patricks.
