According to The Vindicator , Landon Smith a second team All-Ohio receiver from Girard High School will visit Ohio University this weekend. He verbally committed to Youngstown State last summer . He has offers from Kent State , Indiana, Toledo, Ball State and Syracuse according to the article published yesterday. It further stated that he will make his final decision after his last visit.
He is set to graduate later this month and could enroll in college early.

Any updates on Smith? Was he in Athens this weekend and offered? Scouting Ohio has him listed as the #61 ranked player in the state. Just got done watching his highlight reel. He would be a solid addition.

According to an earlier article he had offers from Syracuse and Illinois along with several MAC schools. He will be on campus soon since he is graduating early from Girard High School.

I was thinking the same thing Doc, it been frustrating how few good running back recruits we have been able to bring in. Hope we hear something good soon.

Smith is over-rated, even for YSU level of play. Can't see him being much impact at WR as he played in a system O. Switching to DB doesn't make much sense either as his skills were average. Note the only major offers came from terrible programs ( Cuse, Indiana, etc.). Its nice to pump up the recruits, but reality won't be kind on this one.

He is a slower Taylor Price with better hands. He has good speed but not great speed. He comes to the ball and high points the ball. He also has more wiggle than TP, but not as much as Brazill. Should be very good, if he keeps working.

Well....maybe......but I count at least 8 D1 offers.

So you're saying at least 8 D1 programs have idiot recruiting co-ordinators?

It seems like anyone in the MAC would have been glad to have him, and even some programs like Indiana and Syracuse (which won a bowl game this year).

Looks like a very good get to me. Great hands, can adjust to the ball very well and a pretty elusive runner.

Looks like he has great hands. I'm not sure about his height or speed, though. I like him in the slot, especially if he's a good route runner. It's hard to telll from that video.

Well said Doc. Thank god that stuff is usually frozen.
One site has him at 6'1" another at 6' even. One site has Smith's 40 yard dash time at 4.4. He is known as a tough hombre on the field.
His HS teams classic rival is Youngstown Liberty. Liberty is the home of  Bobcat  Defensive Captain Donovan Fletcher that just completed his eligibility and returning cornerback Kenny Jackson.
