As the commits start to increase almost every day or so, I start wondering about how many recruits  we will sign?   Looking at Ted's football player list, it seems we have 81 current scholarship players and  we are losing 16 seniors (not counting Keller and Brazil).  There are several other players on the list who supposedly had career ending injuries (I thought) and there's the talk about ineligible players floating around.  Assuming normal attrition due to injuries and such, it would seem we might have a fairly big number to give this year.  Any thoughts?

Some recruits from Temple  should think about changing to a school where they will have great coaching from the same coaches their entire stay.  it is worth a lot. I  am assuming Temple has one or two Ohio might like.

With Lucas verbal today, that's 20 so far.  I wonder how many more are coming.

It might be bigger than I thought.....3 star recruit Powell from Kansas visiting this weekend......would also like another running back.

Doc if it's more than you thought are there other players than we know of who have left the program opening additional spots?

Another running back and another QB, IMO would be a nice finish to the class.

Just to clarify, are Keller or Brazil eligible for a medical redshirt year?  I have no idea how that works but it would be huge if either of those guys came back.

From what I have read here, both are returning. And yes, if they can return to form, this is huge. Missing the best players from each side of the ball probably kept Solich from attaining his 100th career win last season. With them he should get a really good start on the second hundred next year.

OHIO probably could have taken Toledo and Marshall with Keller on defense. I agree that having an experienced player of his caliber will be key in 2011 with all the new faces on D line. It looks like in recruiting this year Solich is going down the path of signing more guys rather than relying so much on transfers/greyshirts to deal with yearly program attrition.

Just the typical injury rumors.....sometimes the injuries aren't as bad as first reported....other times it's a college career ender.

It would seem to me that we are just about maxed out on schollies this year....hopefully one for a RB.

Hey guys,

We at The Post are taking a pretty in-depth look at OU's class over the next week (until signing day). Check out our first edition on Cincinnati Oak Hills LB Ben Russell:

These are nice, but I'd suggest they start them after signing day.

Kudos to the Post. Making these recruits feel welcome, appreciated, and important probably goes a little ways towards helping convert a verbal to a signee. I suspect that's the big reason all the major schools do this kind of stuff.

Agree....the kid's a manhandler.

If you're doing these articles in order of impact players then you're off to a decent start.....my #1 impact player in this class however is DT Antwan Crutcher of Cleveland Glenville......turn him loose next year Frank......release the beast.

With the Vick and Powell verbals, Ohio is up to 22 commits. Maybe only a couple more at this point.

So there were 24 or so scholarships available?

I'd say its best player available time.

Frank will probably talk about that when he announces his class. He did that last year with Ryan McGrath.
