Looks like McQueen was just offered and an offer from BG was added to offers from Toledo and Indiana. Visited Toledo 1/21 and set to go to Bloomington 1/29. Looks like limited experience after a strong hoops career. 6-7 265 Tackle.

Mike McQueen was in Athens, This past Wednesday,  Eric Herman was the host for Mr. McQueen. Hope Eric can seal the deal on this kid. Saw the two together in the convo during the Ohio Basketball game.

Wonder if he could play DL. Just when I thought I knew what it took in there along come Carl Jones and a converted FB Roosevelt Nix. Would like to see some passes batted down. McQueen will be something to deal with in two years.

Picking up on the thought mentioned by L.C. in another thread about recruiting athletic QB's and having them help the team later even if not at the QB position, I reiterate again that there's nothing wrong at all with going Floyd B. "Ben" Schwartzwalder and recruiting a whole slew of terrific fullbacks and building a team around that, only leaving at fullback such as Brown, J. and Davis, Ernie.

WVU must daily read Ted's recruiting base so they can decide who to go after.

Good news on a long winter's night.

Wonder what age the young man is as that might turn into 6'9" over the next two years.

Welcome aboard and enjoy the rest of your senior year.

I would be happy with a freshman 40lbs of muscle. Really, Mike, just get bigger, stronger and faster and find a spot somewhere. Welcome to the Bobcats.

Is this a Twofer. Groce gets usage of him also. With DeVaughn leaving after this season and looking at the "slender" incoming recruits for bball next season, looks like McQueen could fill a void in the Convo as well.

The #1 Cleveland area ranked Garfield Heights Bulldogs (15-0) took care of #2 ranked St. Eds last evening, 85-82.

"The 6'7" Mike McQueen, who signed a football NLI with Ohio on Wednesday had 16 points, 5 rebounds and made two free throws with 14 seconds left to go."

Pack in your bags another 15 game win streak and bring it along to Ohio.

About half of these guys signed are pretty good in other sports.  Maybe we can start a new trend here.  Just recruit 2 or 3 sport guys, we need all the help we can get in the other sports as well.

We're seeing fewer two sport athletes these days...each individual sport is just too demanding year round.

I don't want to hi jack a thread but I had to laugh when I read this because not 1 minute earlier I read on Yahoo the following about a healthy heart.  Here we have a two sport athlete who gets tons of exercise contrasted to:

" Regular, heart-thumping exercise offers a multitude of health benefits, particularly for cardiovascular fitness. Perhaps clinicians (and health writers) keep bashing us over the head with that fact because of the eye-popping number of American adults who reported getting zero vigorous activity in a 2008 Centers of Disease Control and Prevention survey: 59 percent."

So fewer two sport athletes and just 40% of us who at least ONE time in a 365 day period had ONE 30 minute aerobic activity during the course of ONE day.  That is amazing.  I guess fast reading or typing on a message board doesn't count?

Congrats to Mike, who came up big (excuse the pun) as Garfield Heights took down St. Ed's in a Regional Semifinal tonight at Cleveland State. I don't have the stats yet, but he played an impressive game, especially early on. Sonny's Garfield Heights team improves to 23-1.

GH takes on the winner of the Mentor-Berea game that starts in a few minutes.

This guy may be the catch of the class.

WVU offered him so you know he's not chopped liver.....just played one year of football.....but give me an athletic 6'7"-280 (soon to be 300+) pound athletic dude any day of the week.

Didn't Stanford have a 2 sport guy play football last year?  Can't remember his game (Toby Gerhart) but he was a great one I think. He also played baseball.  It's got to ba a lot tougher for football/basketball since their seasons overlap. It can be done, but I'm sure the coaches in his "main" sport don't like it.

Edited with Gerhart info.

saw him play, if you could call it that, in garfield heights loss to northland in the state div. 1 basketball semi-finals.  he is NOT a basketball player, rather a football player who is participating in basketball.  nothing wrong with that, he just isn't a player.  not just my opinion, but that of 2 neutral observers whose words i value.

he is big, perhaps a bit too big.  needs to get in better shape, build up some upper body strength.

Yeah......but participating as a starter on a championship team.....sure....beat by Satch Sullingers Northland but who hasn't..

I'll take a 280 soon to be 300 pounder who's an athletic 6'7" with a sub 5.0 forty any day of the week.

Lift them weights son.
