According to a Rivals.com article, he loved everything about the place but did not commit. He has no other official visits planned at this time. He was accompanied by teammate Greg Windham who has also been offered by Ohio. Windham is a QB who has offers from Cincinnati, Troy and WKU.

this does not sound like a solid commitment.  In fact the whole "commitment" thing is a sham.  The kids have no idea what the word commitment means (and probably don't wanna know anyway!).  One shouldn't have to ask whether a "commitment" is "solid."--you are either committed or you are not.  What has actually happened in this case is that the kid, no matter what words he spoke, has not committed, but  has rather stated his preference as of September 27.

The only real "commitment" comes when a letter of intent is signed.

I really hope he eventually chooses Ohio.  I would not be surprised if he doesn't.

I would say welcome to the pair, they will be a great addition. Based on prior history, probably 70-80% of the time we get a verbal like this they end up an Ohio signee, versus about 15% of those that don't give a soft verbal, so I'm happy to have the soft verbal.

They are just verbal commits but regardless kids have OHIO in their radar. They like what they saw and feel like they can come in a play 3 or 4 years and not have to sit 2 or 3 at a bigger bcs school. Not everyone wants to just wear a big name jersey and never touch the field. Even if we dont get these guys I like how we are now going after top notch athletes at all positions.

These guys will take Ohio to the next level and Ohio will take them to the next level. We get two studs. They get a great education, a hero's welcome and the chance to play a lot and go professional. Oh yeah and don't forget about the gorgeous women. Welcome to ohio! Ohio will be ranked. If these guys come in focussed and stay focussed they will play on Sunday's.

This reminds me of the Thad Turner/Brandon Jones signings.  High school QB and WR who both committed together...

This is going to be Ohio's best recruiting class since Solich and Co. have been here... with everything this program has done this year so far, and the wins we have and should get... who the hell would want to go to any other MAC school?

Win the MAC and a Bowl and this class will explode...  these next 8-10 games are probably some of the most important in Ohio history in terms of building the program...

There are some GREAT players in the last signing I think the last 4-5 classes have been exceptional starting with lightly recruited players Taylor Price..Mike Mitchell etc

This sounds like a "soft verbal" if there ever is one.

According to Windham there will be future official visits by the pair. Purdue has pursued the duo as well. Also, Middle Tennessee and Tennessee State want Windham on their campuses.

Asked if the commitment to Ohio University was solid, Windham offered: “It’s pretty strong right now, but who knows what will happen.”

Would now be a good time to petition the NCAA for an early signing period in football?

My wedding vows were kind of like that.  "I do.  For now anyway.  Who knows what will happen?"

Seriously though I appreciate the player's honesty.  Plenty of verbals these days are soft, whether the recruit is up front about it or not.
