Listed as an ILB.....he may also develop into a hellacious hitter and pass rusher from the outside as an OLB or DE.

Agree that props have to go to the coaching staff when we get a verbal from a player who is getting BCS or CUSA offers.

The Post is reporting that Jake is the top prospect overall prospect in the state of Nebraska.

Quality. I'm glad we are emphasizing linebacker in this class. I say you can never have too many quality LBs.

After watching the videos, it is really exciting to get Jake Schany as a future BOBCAT LBer.  He looks to be a real headhunter who likes to HIT.   He appears to have great mobility and a great sense for the ball. Although, the CATS will no doubt use him solely on defense (which is great), the way he runs the ball indicates his  athleticism and aggresiveness.  Welcome Jake.  Thank you Nebraska - you're  beccoming one of my favorite states.   Hope this commit stays true to the CATS.

I am from Blair, NE and have enjoyed watching this young man play at the high school here in town the last three years. He is for real and a great catch for the Bobcats. As you could see in the highlights posted here from youtube he plays hard every down on both sides of the ball.  This season he did miss the first game due to an illness and played basically the 2nd half of the 2nd game in part to the illness, a third game he missed most of due to an injury that was reported, unconfirmed but was believed by the local broadcaster to have been a broken nose.

http://omaha.com/article/20110820/PREPZONE/308209877/1489    an article from Omaha World-Herald from the preseason preview.

An article on his most recent game played 10/20/2011 against South Sioux City HS (South Sioux City, NE) where they discuss him

You all can see some highlights and so forth and the site used to broadcast the games here as well that may not have been included within those on youtube posted here. Sitll a few games from this season waiting to be uploaded but should be their eventually.

ESPN noted today that Nebraska has just got a verbal from a JUCO LB.   The only other offer was from Akron of all people.  Anyway, isn't it stange to you that Nebr. wouldn't take this guy?  The only reason that really stands out is that they need help next year, not the next, at LB, since he probably wouldn't play as a true freshmen there.

Jake had been to some Nebraska camps and they were interested, just didn't extend an offer.  Guess t was more utilizing scholarship offers elsewhere.  A weird fun fact is that the former Nebraska linebackers coach, Mike Ekeler, who left at end of last season to be the co-defensive coordinator at Indiana, grew up and graduated from Blair Hs in Blair, NE where Jake is from. Regardless of the fact schools miss in state recruits alot.

maybe they think a 5.0 - 40 yard dash is to slow - that was the only thing i could come up with - i think you want ILB running a 4.8 at least.

just guessing - i know the header says 4.7, but i think i read in the post he was clocked at 5 seconds flat.

Both Rivals and CFN show Schany's 40 @ 4.7.

The guy is one of the best players in Nebraska....offers from Colorado and Tulane and others....wouldn't be the best player in Ohio......but no doubt all-state........important to keep the Nebraska pipeline going....a few under the radar guys will surface as well.

Having watched him play over the last three years, it is hard to say how accurate the 40 speed is (my attitude there the 40 sped like track speed and then their is football speed with equipment and general reactions).

He has played both fullback and tailback here in addition to linebacker as he was recruited for.  The previous 2 seasons here at Blair we had the state's leading rusher (his hi-lites are worth watching-hard to figure why he wasn't recruited more heavily)that Jake was blocking for along with getting carries here and there.

http://blairsports.net/blair-vs-beatrice-2011-football-playoffs/     hi-lites from the last game, this past Friday, 1st round of the state playoffs. Jake's younger brother who is a sophomore played well in this game, he is #7  Jake is #12.

Jake Schany is a stud.  He is a great pic up for Ohio.  Nebraska generally leans on the in-state kids to walk on even if they have division I ability.  The only guys they offer are anyone with the last name Cotton or unless you are a clear cut big time BCS player...I believe the Nebraska coaches thought they could slow play Jake and maybe throw a grey shirt at him late....Abusing our in-state kids' desire to play for he skers is not always going to work for the Pelini's.

Final point, Schany is a very good ball player....I wish Ohio was pushing hard for Mike Shoff...He has an Iowa offer but is, in my opinion, the best player in the state.  With Schany and Drew Ott right behind him.

Ryker Fyfe is a QB out of Grand Island, NE and he is the real deal.  The huskers are giving him a hard look but they will at most toss him a grey shirt or ask him to walk on.  He is very good and depending on Ohio's QB recruiting in this class, Fyfe can move and throw.

I like him.  Looks like a long strider.  Could be a receiver or sometimes kids like him wind up on defense.
