Just wondering who we might still be able to land with this class.  I t should be a small one and we have about a dozen confirmed.....could be a few stealth guys out there which leaves us with probably 4-6 spots.

Some of the guys have left have a plethora of BCS school offers so landing them would be nice just maybe not real probable.

Here's a list from Ted's database.....most of them we have offered.....some positions like LB and O-Line may be positions that we're finished with and we could go with remaining spots at DL...QB....DB.....and possibly WR and even RB.

QB

We could go after one more QB since as it stands our current 2012 QB verbal is third string.  We've offered Jacob Guy from Fla. for some time but he seems to be still out there.  Cole French of Eaton may have an offer and we talked last week with J.D.Sprague of Mason.

RB

Most of these guys have tons of offers...but with our recent success it's not impossible to land a 3 or 4 star guy.  We have one verbal already and I like Allante Gardner of Roseville Michigan who can play RB...CB...WR.....and even QB.

WR/TE

3 excellent TE's still available:

Stephen Buric-Tarpon Springs Fla.

Scott Davis-Fork Union Military Academy

Daniel Nwosu-Washington D.C.

Some of the WR available:

Justin Hardee-Clev. Glenville

Gavin Sinclair-Ft. Lauderdale Fla.

Tres Barksdale-Solon

Tristin Jeffries-Sandusky

O-Line

We have one verbal already and a ton of returnees so we may be done here....I like James Anderson of Omaha Neb.

D-Line

We have 2 or 3 DE verbals already...so most of these guys are interior lineman:

Justin Wilson-Luther Ok.

Willie Henry-Cle. Glenville

Taylor Timmons-Tampa Fla.

Ishmael Hayes-Texas JUCO

Trae Clark-Cincy Colerain

LBers

We have 3 verbals already.....4 if you count Laseak who looks like a DE....so I don't think we'll go after any more.

DB's

Decent group left:

Carlson Millikin-Woodbury Va.

Taylor Williams-Dublin Coffman

Sean Draper-Cle. Glenville

V'Angelo Bentley-Cle. Glenville

Anybody else out there have some players that they like or that you think we might have a shot at?

I would feel a lot better if we were able to catch a few of the more highly rated guys.  After last year, when we signed quite a few multiple offer-much sought after players, this seems to be overall a very under-the -radar class so far.  Maybe  it's just me, but with the record this year, the relatively good on-going stability in the coaching staff and the multi-purpose facitity coming on line in a few years(I hope) , I would have thought that the signing of players who are be recruited by even BCS schools would be going up.  And more importantly, we have lost, it seems to me, far more recruits this year to other MAC teams, most notably-Miami-than in prior years. Please-somebody give me something to be really  excited about with this overall class that we have so far.  If we had turned the corner last year and were getting the competitive signings, I just don't see it this year, particularly if we are only getting 4-6 more players not on the books so far..

I believe we have only 3 recruits from OHIO right now.  While it is nice to get some FL players it is a bit disconcerting that we are still not winning more recruiting battles in the state of Ohio.

I get the feeling that we, as fans, are more concerned than the coaches. In some years past, in January you were seeing more offers going out. I don't see many new offers being given, except possibly at QB. That tells me that the staff is pretty certain that they have what they wanted from the initial group they offered.

I  wonder if the staff is using the Glenville connection..these guys come in ready to play fairly early!! If we can even get 1 of those 3 listed then we are getting a heck of an athlete.

I know there were Glenville players visiting last weekend. I haven't been able to confirm which ones.

Personally I wouldn't mind seeing a Corner and a Safety or two. I know this past season the secondary was under a  lot of scrutiny which might seem a tad unwarranted due to injuries and lack of experience but I still would want some depth there especially since there are four seniors at CB next year. That way they would have a year to develop. Another QB and a power RB would be nice to have as well that would compliment Hammonds and Patterson.

Three things strike me:  First, this staff has proven pretty good at finding and developing talent.  Second, Coach has come to understand and stated that it takes a certain type of player to be comfortable at Ohio; guys who are interested in the bright lights and consistent national tv spotlight and 60,000 person crowds won't stick if they do come to Athens.

Which leads to point three:  Coupled with the rise of the program (record, attendance, ESPN appearances, MAC title games, bowls), I have faith that our recruits will prove out--no matter the lack of apparent star power.

The others can have the oohs and ahs.  I'll take results with solid student-athletes.

Who cares where our players come from as long as they're good students, good citizens, and help us win?

Reading this thread leaves me wondering what happened to Bill Kurelic and his almost-daily recruiting updates. I appreciated his info, even if he is one of the biggest osu inc. homers around.

I check his site occasionally. But he hasn't posted anything since the end of November.
