There was not a lot of unknown tidbits from the press conference. The staff identified Chris Murray and Greg Windham back last Spring and Lightner traveled to Florida to close the deal. In-state recruits have to bypass a lot of MAC programs before they get down to Athens and that remains a challenge. The philosophy with the position coaches is to get guys who a veteran assistants with a lot of contacts for the type of national recruiting the program likes to do. Last but not least most of the recruiting class has the physical attributes to play right away without needing a couple of years in the weight room. Frank said he'll make an effort to play the best available players. The athlete recruits may end up on either side of the football depending on where the greatest need exists.

Wow, they said Trae Clark probably is actually heavier than his listed weight of 350.

Solich said there is one guy who is supposed to come in for a visit that they would consider offering a scholarship to, but otherwise this would be the full class.

They referred to it as a late visit by the player. Frank thought anyone in this class could play college football right away. With the smaller class of 19 he said that since the time that he's been there about 25 walkons have earned scholarships (3 or 4 a year) so they like to hold a few opportunities back for guys in the system that have earned it. 12 recruits on board during the recruiting season for Ohio is equivalent to where most programs are sitting at 20, hence why the program seems to have slower starts in the recruiting wars every year. One interesting item of note is that Davon Henry  was introduced as ATH and at 6'3" 225 could be a physical back with 4.7 speed. From the sounds of it the athletes, Daz'mond and the JUCO guys will play right away. Solich earlier mentioned that not only is Lavon gone but  Dunlop and Gross were very important in the offense so  Mike Roberts and Sebastian Smith are going to have a very early look on that side of the ball.

No, it was not asked. I don't think Solich could have answered.

Did he talk about how many of these guys will redshirt?  Not sure what percentage of guys we normally redshirt, but I'd have to guess maybe half of them.

Other than 2005, the norm has been for 2-4 freshmen to play, and the rest to redshirt.

They were asked last night about how many would redshirt.  Coach Haines said they would not know until they showed up since this class is ready enough to play right now.  Coach Solich mentioned that is class was talented enough to step right onto the field, but that we need to see them stacked up to our guys.

Mentioned how much they liked the QB and his ability to catch the snap (pistol/shotgun) and throw quickly.
