Scout.com is reporting that Ohio has offered Lynwood (CA) High School cornerback Diamonte Wiggins and that he is scheduled to visit this weekend. The 6-3, 175-pounder is also showing offers from Washington St., Boise St., New Mexico and Eastern Washington.

Beating out Boise for a west coast kid seems like a real nice get.  You can never have enough good cornerbacks in this conference nowadays.

We are the last school to win on the Blue Turf not Boise. That had to be the deciding factor.

If he's from the Lywood that is a few miles southeast of downtown Los Angeles, he's going about 180 degrees--from hardcore urban to bucolic Athens.  Best of luck to the young man.  We've had pretty good luck with student-athletes from California lately it seems.

Lost Wiggins today. He decided to go to a D2 school closer to home.

Sad to hear. Best of luck. Does this open up a scholarship for J.D. Sprague?

Probably not. There will be a few preferred walk-ons coming in. If he proves himself, he could go on scholarship later.

I show 65 guys on scholarship and 19 signees. But I'm pretty sure that a couple of current walk-ons are or will go on scholarship to get to 85 for Fall Camp.

The 5:00 teleconference might have further information on a few of these preferred walk-ons. Ryan McGrath's scholarship honor was discussed a couple of years ago. It sounds like Greg Venham should be in line for a scholly to replace Paul Hershey.

Kristoff is another preferred walkon that seems certain to get one. He started 8 games, I think....

The money from this, and the the one that would have gone to Lewis scholarship will get used. There are always plenty of deserving players. Similarly, if Lewis is acquitted, I'm sure they will find a way to get him one. Keeping it all in balance, the Coaches earn their salaries.
