I know nothing of the young man but what I read here.  That said, OUr recruiting reach is impressive.  His high school is smack dab in the hardcore middle of the L.A./Long Beach metro area.  Good ball played in this area.

Scout sez 2012......the strange thing (other than all of his offers) is that no one is talking about this.

Could have been waiting on his ACT score..other schools may have fallen off Ohio has a fairly good reputation of sticking with kids if they can.

Does anyone really think this guy will be on the team next year?

I'd say, yes, I expect him to be on the team. Otherwise why bother? That said, if there was room for him to have a scholarship for fall, that would imply to me that someone we expect to be on it won't be. I suppose he could be a grayshirt, or preferred walkon. Rivals also shows him as signed LOI to Ohio:

Remember the Ashley kid a few years back. Reminds me a liitle of him.  Perhaps the why bother is to get your foot in the door in case he may qualify later.

If we do get this guy, we have a good one for sure.  There's just too much interest from good teams to think otherwise.

It's also true that he's a sleeper. For whatever reason not one of the ratings services rated him. Scout, rivals, and ESPN list him, but have no rating. 247sports doesn't list him. I find that odd that no one rated him if he really had all those offers.

Supposedly is film here, but it doesn't play for me:
Here is a Junior film. I guess he punts, too, and plays some WR.

Is there any way to get an official comment from someone on this guy?

Seeing that box drill and looking at his size playing linebacker I would say he is TOUGH...no actually just the fact that he is from Compton California  and attends Dominguez is enough.

...But ONLY a little bit, colobob. Remember, Ashley began as a Mississippi State verbal, then I think it was Southern Cal, then off to a JC, then OUr team, and then ...

This young man is still in high school, and as far as I know he never committed prior to this (?)  The list of offers is, indeed, impressive:
Schools of Interest:
School Interest Level Offer? Attended Camp? Visit Date Signed LOI?
Ohio Verbal Yes   None
Arizona No Interest Yes   None
Arizona State No Interest Yes   None
Oregon No Interest Yes   None
Utah No Interest Yes   None
Washington No Interest Yes   None

I got the story on Johnson. He had committed to Arizona St. before that coaching staff was fired. I guess the new staff wasn't interested. New Bobcats DL coach Jesse Williams had a relationship with Johnson from when he was at New Mexico State. Williams was also instrumental in the recruitment of Davon Henry. The coaching staff is excited about both.

That box drill is ridiculous. Definitely an athlete, but he looks a little wirey for LB. Are we thinking red shirt with a year to bulk up, or maybe play him at safety?

Sounds like a great add to the defense!!! Ohio tends to use undersized linebackers more than most schools. It will take him a year to catch on for sure..wasnt Noah the last Lber to play as a freshman??

No, Jelani Wosely played in 2009, which is too bad. I wish he was only a Junior next year.

Wasn't Theo or Franshaw from SCLA? Maybe put in a good word? Great to recruit in USCs backyard.
