Marcus Cox, 5-10, 185, 4.40 40 from Dacula, Georgia, a running back or WR, has reportedly narrowed his list to 4 teams. The top 4 include Ohio, Miami, MTSU, and UNC Charlotte. I believe he also hopes for an offer from Georgia Tech. He reportedly has 9 total offers, the others include Elon, Liberty, S. Alabama, Tenn St and Buffalo. For scout subscribers (I'm not), here's an article on him.

Edit - fixed spelling, also, here's some film.

You know it!  Actually a smart move by the MAC once Charlotte gets its feet wet in football - would open up recruiting for the league.

Mike's right, although the move to C-USA isnt until 2015. Just in time for Marcus' junior year when he steps onto the national scene. Not sure if that's a smart move, but then again I never got offered a scholarship.

Doh!  How'd I miss that.  That program will be better than MAC programs quickly.  New facility.  A campus excited about starting football.  Huge corporate sponsors all over town.  I'm jealous.

I don't know about that. On paper they should be good, but football teams from the state of North Carolina seem to under-deliver compared to what they should do on paper. Curse of being a basketball state I guess.

Their challenge will be defining their recruiting pecking order.  The top tier kids in state can go anywhere (and usually head out of state), next level kids migrate to NC State, UNC, Clemson, USC.  next level are East Carolina, Wake and App. St (Duke has a different challenge).  To be competitive, Charlotte needs to get a solid footing in the third tier.  Initial class(es) as expected are competing more with the Elons and NC Centrals - a step or two below MAC recruits.  Know they are part of Conf USA, but would have been nice to expand geographically through them.

If there is one position we are just not recruiting at the top of the MAC yet it has to be running back. I would be fine with a couple of 3 star guys from Florida to address this need. Any shape and size is okay if he's a gamer. I think you old school guy are nostalgic about your old high school football days when you left tracks all over the field as 5 foot 7 251 pound dynamos. The thrill of watching BIG MANZ overacheive in YPC down after down. Dreams of BIG MANZ dancing together in the end zone. It's like the basketball guys who want to see nothing more at a game than a 7 footer dunk. Looking for the spectacle and not the game itself.

Wes, we may have one LITTLE MANZ from Florida on the field this fall, Daz'mond Patterson. This young man is very gifted in lots of ways, including the classroom. He graduated from HS early and already has a semester at Ohio completed.

From my viewpoint Patterson is a cornerstone of the foundation of an exceptional running back core. We need 3 more Pattersons and that will set the RB position on good footing. Im not necessarily against a power back or 2 and I understand bigger players are more exciting to watch but I am comfortable with leaving it up to the staff to decide what shapes and sizes they want for their backfield instead of demanding BIG MANZ on every coaches show.

I hope the old-timers can carry the load this season.  I defer to Mr. Patterson's wishes but I would really like to see him as a 5th yr sr.

I'll tell  ya whats great about big manz. Mixing one in with a RB that can dance the defense to death. They are out of breath ( hurry up o) and on their heels, then , BAM! Big manz.
