The way I see it, the recruiting process is a two way street. The school wants players that are right for the program. The players want a school that fits them, too. If either isn't sure it is "right", then, it isn't "right".

Watching things develop at Ohio I have learned a great deal. One thing I have learned is this - the very first things the coaches did when they arrived at Ohio was to try to install a new culture. The culture they tried to install was the culture of hard work, confidence, and winning that was in place at Nebraska. The culture transplant didn't go perfectly. The first part was easy - the players were willing to work hard. The second part was harder - the players tried to be confident but in some ways erred on the side of cockiness, which then translated into a slew of off-the-field problems. In fact, it was only when the third part came into place, winning, that the confidence part got back in focus. In the end, though, the culture transplant worked, and Ohio now has a culture that will assure winning seasons now and in the future. (Ironically, a high priority for Solich's replacement at Nebraska was erasing all memory of that culture, and we know how that went. Once gone, Nebraska has struggled to get it back, but they are getting there).

Anyway, getting back on point, some kids are going to visit Ohio and know right off that this is where they want to be; that they are a perfect fit for the culture. They won't be swayed by other offers. Those are the kids Ohio wants, and those are the ones that will carry that culture into the future. Others are going to visit and feel that it just isn't right for them. It might be something small (such as that Akron has malls but Athens doesn't), but for whatever reason, it has to be a two-way fit for it to work.

In the end when someone like Walsh de-commits, I wish him well, and I move on. That's what will keep the culture going into the future.

Losing Walsh is big...but certainly not the end of the world.  It may open up a scholly for someone really good. If we can find someone else really good this year at QB then so be it. If not then it could have the effect next year of landing a QB or more than one since TT is a senior.

This puts a small dent in this class but ever since we landed Carson I've been optimistic about the remaining schollies.   Current commit Justin Wyatt has been workin at convincing the UC commits from  his home state of Georgia to come here and landing just one would be huge.

IMO if we don't sign another good prospect, we are playing with fire. Having only 3 scholarship QB's could prove disastrous for obvious reasons.
