I think its pretty much done. I don't know how many more they will take. There are 18 commits so far, and 19 Seniors leaving. I'm thinking there will be 1-2 more. If they can land a good freshman cornerback, I'll be happy with this class. Of course, if they lose a soft commit, that will free another space.

From Ted's database there appears to be 2 open scholarships in addition to the 19 departing seniors (Carrie staying or he would have been 20).

Generally a walk on or two picks up a scholarship.  I'm not sure who those candidates might be but I would think the specialists might be in line for one (Venham if he's not already on scholarship & winner of Amicone or Yazdani).  Another walk-on who saw spot duty is Dayne Hammonds.

There's usually at least 1 name that comes in late.  Hope there's a good one this year and he's a CB.

If they do go 2 years without a corner, they will need to fill in by adding a JUCO in a year or two. It isn't a disaster, but it's better if you don't have to go that way because the top JUCO corners are always in high demand.

Success breeds success and it also brings unrealistic visions of success.  With back-to-back bowl wins we have visions of sugar plums dancing in OUr heads and can't understand how and why we recruit who we recruit.

Even with a few openings I see no reason to jump off the Richland bridge because of this class.. We still have a bunch of student athletes visiting and what they saw Friday and what they will see on campus might be enough.

Stay tuned.

That would be why Ted's list shows 83, not 85, but they aren't going to let money sit unused. I'm sure that it probably was given to some walkons, thought they might have gotten it as a one-year deal, and may not get it again next year unless it becomes similarly available. I would agree that Venham and the Amicone/Yazdani winner will probably end up with scholarships.

Will be nice to see how the 2012 class develops this coming year.  I believe that there was consensus that this was a fine class.

(I realize that this basically excludes the juco's, who I assume largely played...and those who we thought would show but who did not, which happens for every class.)
