Doc / LC,

Maybe I'm overlooking someone but aren't we in serious need of a Center?

If we are, it's too late to get one via recruiting. Allen, Bales and Pritchard are all Seniors. You wouldn't want to be starting a true Freshman Center. I think Powell is next in line at center, but I'm not sure. Hopefully some others are working there, too.

I look for Powell to get more snaps  and he could start as a sophomore...also soph. Seth Everhart (6'5"-300) has done some long snapping so he could see some time at center and with all the decent linemen look for someone to be moved.

Center is a position with some smart recruiting a team could pick up the finest player in the country--even at a non-top tier program.

I wrote this a year ago when another thread talked about center, that my high school buddy's kid brother was overlooked by lots of colleges as a slightly smallish DE and OLman.  He got to college and the head coach immediately saw the potential and moved him to center.  The kid was nearly in panic at the thought of not killing QB's and thought center the weakest position to play.  He went on to be a two time Bob Hope Show all-american and earned the Outland Trophy his senior year.

With outstanding recruiting, there are guys like this out there currently not lining up at center--perhaps not even playing football but studs on the basketball court but who lack a little something to make it on the hardwood at the next level..

RB-Kareem Hunt-5'11"-200-Willoughby South-looks like Mr. Ohio this year.

Hunt sez  he will decide amongst Pitt and other MAC schools so I added RB Batten from Dunedin Florida.

I think (hope) most of the remaining commits will be on the defensive side. I'm not expecting many more, but I'm still looking for a corner or two which would round out a very good class.

Zach Murdock/OL/Dublin Coffman- Long reach and great frame will be very productive during his time @ OU IMHO. One of the most underrated prospects in the state due to late bloom and style of play (consistent technician) not a devastating blocker. Had a great year for the Rocks, and arguably more consistent than former Rocks/Buckeye and Current Steeler Mike Adams series by series film doesn't lie.

This probably ends OUr offense commits as we get one from Chris Carson....the Georgia RB rated 76th in entire U.S. class with offers from the U (Miami Fl.) and Indiana.

Doc--I'm looking at the lads who you have as 'verbal to Ohio' on the lead post in this thread..and,whoa!, that is a good looking list.

I don't follow as closely as some of you all but I gotta think that this is the best class we've had on the o-fensive side by a pretty good measure.

Doc I don't see WR Justin Wyatt on your list.  He committed a while back.

I have him on the D list since they first mentioned safety.....but after watching his vid he for sure belongs on the O team at WR.

I'm sure the coaches have a backup plan, but here's three others you can look at:
Timothy Brady - Looks good, but I don't think he's the 6-1 they claim - has a Temple offer. From Baltimore/DC area.
Keenen Wise - Another 6-1 guy, and another one from Georgia Senior year was 73-150-7 for 1243 yards and 14 TD, and added 674 on the ground on 105 carries for another 10 TDs.
Najee Jackson - And yet another one listed at 6-1, this one from Vick's old school. He was running for his life most of this film, so it's hard to really compare him to, say, Walsh, who has great blocking most of the time in his highlights. His junior year he was 87-153-2 for 1501 yards and 17 TDs, plus a state championship. Senior year was 81-158-1 for 1438 yards and 12 TDs and a 9-2 season, plust 251 rushing on 70 carries. I like the TD/Int ratio.

Will replace QB Brown with Wise.....who seems to have a better arm and is rated higher.

Tyree Graves to Ohio....non-qualifier so he may end up in junior college.  Teammate Eric Hampson (6'5"-300) also has an offer from Ohio and the OL will visit with Graves this weekend.

I saw Brown more as an athlete than a QB, more of a Dovell type. I like Wise, too, but after watching all three again, Jackson is my favorite. He has a strong arm, good "escapability", excellent ball handling ability, but when push comes to shove, it's hard to argue with with TD/interception ratio, and his ability to win. Considering the blocking he had, his passing stats are pretty good. Also, in watching the film, his receivers dropped a very large number of what should have been easy catches, or his stats would have been a lot better.

Hey Doc, with Walsh leaving the Commit list will Ohio recruit 2 QB's next year or stick with one.  If they don't find a guy they want in this class, I can't see them using a schollie for an at-risk.

What do you think?

Thanks,

Blob

With 4 QBs on the roster, I think that if they don't find a guy they think they really want they will try to add another walkon this year, and then probably take 2 QB's next year. They took 2 last year, but Ronnie Bell left, while Vick stayed.
