Originally Nebraska was looking at him at a TE, and they weren't going to offer. It was when they started thinking about him as a possible DT that speculation that they would offer increased. I do think that the recent additions to the Nebraska class reduce the chances that they will offer Sayles, but until signing day we won't know for sure.

I see that Nebraska added a recruit at DE today. They now have 20 recruits, 5 of whom are on the defensive line (3 DEs and 2 DTs). I don't know anything about their plans, but I'd be surprised if they want more defensive linemen.

It is Ohio's good fortune Nebraska recruits are not respected.  Sales will be another underrated Nebraska recruit.  This is a top 5 list and they could only find four.

According to HuskerOnline ( a Rivals site), Sayles is to meet late next week with Nebraska to get a yes or no about an offer. While Nebraska hasn't decided whether they want him as a TE or DE, he said Ohio definitely wants him as a DE. He said he recently got an offer from WMU, interest from Kansas before they filled up and some interest from Tennessee.

Nebraska received a commitment from Cethan Carter tonight a TE out of Louisiana.  I know Sayles is meeting with the Nebraska staff, but I still believe he is Ohio Bound.  This young man is very high on Ohio.  I believe they will try to get him to walk on or offer a grey shirt but who knows what the NU coaches will ultimatly do.

I can tell you this.  I watched Casey play in a couple games this fall as I coach for an opposing high school and he is a monster.  This young man is vastly underrated.  Sayles can run and is very quick off the ball.  With his size and strength he is going to be dangerous in the future.  He would be a huge pick up for Ohio and again I believe we still get him at Ohio.

Blob

***Nebraska has 3 DE commits, 2 TE commits, 2 DT commits...They are pretty full in the areas Casey can play...

This is another one I like a lot.  It's strange that only us and Nebraska showed interest.  It seems like a lot of Nebraska kids get underrated for some reason.

I think he also had FBS offers from WMU, BG and Colorado State.

Hey Doc, both Easton and RJ have strong interest in Ohio.  I believe I have posted before but Big Jon Lechner loves Ohio and still has great influence back at Creighton Prep where RJ and Easton are working hard preparing for their senior campaign both academically and athletically.  I have been coaching for 15 years and both of these young men are high caliber DI kids but to answer another posters question in this response; if Nebraska does not offer most other schools back off.  Nebraska has the state cornered and they do their best to force in-state kids to walk on even if they are of equal or sometimes more talent then someone out-of-state that they have already offered.  It's a great situation for the likes of Ohio, Iowa, Iowa State, Tulsa, Kansas State, all who come in and offer Nebraska kids on a regular basis.

That's why Casey is such a huge pick up.  I know Nebraska wanted him but he is an in-state kid.  It's kind of a wierd situation.

Omaha North has a huge OL and a RB in the Class of 2015 who are both high caliber DI.  I hope Ohio jumps on them too.  We have a fantastic safety in that class of 2015.  I hope they all end up checking Ohio out and Ohio checking them out.

I agree. For a long time Nebraska was the only game in town. The in-state situation was that any high school graduate was guaranteed admission to UNL, and in-state tuition was remarkably cheap, so pretty much anyone could afford to walk on. As a result even kids with other Division I offers would opt to walk on at UNL. That allowed Nebraska to have it's cake and eat it, too. They could used the bulk of their scholarships out of state, and still get all the good in-state kids, too.

Today the situation has changed. In-state tuition is much higher now, and more out-of state schools are recruiting Nebraska talent. K-State, Colorado, Colorado State, Wyoming, North Dakota State, Kansas, Iowa, Iowa State, and Ohio are all regulars. For most of the schools its a kid here, one there, but Ohio and North Dakota State coaching staffs have close ties to the state, and have more of a pipeline going.
