I'm assuming this is Coach Burrow's Son (I could be wrong)...

Either way though, I hope we have eyes on him...Arkley thinks he has the frame and the skill set to be a huge prospect...Last night's game would definitely seem to prove that out!

Other than not knowing how big he is I totally expect 30 big time offers for this kid OU will be on the outside looking in I suspect.

In the past I would have agreed with this and honestly would never have bothered posting about him.  We are a different program now though, and there's no reason we shouldn't have a punchers chance (other than the fact that while most kids don't want to move across the country, they usually do at least want to leave the city).

Since when did Athens become a city? Everyone was called "townies" when I went to school.

Same here...

I was referencing recruiting trends in general when I used the word "city"...

Introducing in 2016 for your football pleasure....the next version of TT....and not to belittle Tyler....maybe an improved version.

OK, why did we get Tettleton?  Perhaps the biggest reason was because he was hurt (ACL) his junior year and virtually all major schools stayed away.  As I recall, he had 3 offers, total.  And if you examine some of his comments in the stories available on the web, if he had received better offers, well...

From everything I've heard, I like young Burrow.  Wish him the best.  And if the best happens (meaning continued success on and off the field at AHS, no injuries, etc), he will receive many, many more offers than Tettleton.

Fantastic if he should end up a Bobcat.  If he continues to progress, highly unlikely.

As the program continues to progress, Ohio will attract better and better athletes at all positions, including QB. Vick had offers from Colorado State, North Dakota State, and South Dakota State. Windham had offers from Troy, Cincinnati, Western Kentucky, and Tennessee State. Walsh has offers from Akron, BG, CMU and Toledo. Not so many years ago the people choosing Ohio typically had no other offers. Today the people picking Ohio typically have 2-4 other offers. I expect that to be a higher number still in a few more years.

What is a recruit looking for? A place he can play? A place he can improve? A place with good coaching? A place where he can win? A place with a good football atmosphere? A place where he has a shot at the NFL? A chance for a national championship? A place with malls? Unless the last one is a high priority, or maybe the second to last, Ohio is a good choice. Just because a player gets other offers, there is no reason to write them off. Instead, make them an offer, and sell them on Ohio.

The kid is from Athens, and a coaches son.  If he does progress, we REALLY need to pick him up.

Seriously? Not even think we had a chance???

Given that: 1. He is the son of a coach and 2. He is from Athens ...that alone tells me that there at least would have been a chance under any circumstance.

Now whether or not he really does get all of these "big time" offers remains to be seen. Name the last BCS caliber player that has ever stepped foot in southeast Ohio, let alone the TVC. Recruiters will certainly have to take in the level of competition. I would be very surprised if he ends up being the sort of 4 or 5 star recruit many of you are making him out to be. We'll see...

Athens plays Thurgood Marshall at Reynoldsburg High School on Saturday.  We'll see how he handles teams with good speed.

Off the top of my head, Portsmouth High School had a kid graduate from Penn State as a 3 yr starter, Gerald Cadogan, and his brother is currently there on Scholarship. Portsmouth West has a kid who's starting Fullback at Michigan State, Ironton has a player at Ohio State. Chillicothe has a kid kicking for Ohio State and in the past 10 years has had players starting at Ohio State and Illinois. That's the top of my head at Mid-Night, so there is more than you think.

Those are not true SE Ohio schools, IMO. Both of those are in larger towns that have a history of some success in high school sports. The schools that populate the TVC, as well as most of the SEOAL schools, are not on par with Portsmouth or Chillicothe from a resources or history standpoint.

Ironton isn't in SEOhio?

You may want to look at a few things.  Portsmouth has 179 Ironton has 174 boys per OHSAA classifications, that would make them one of the smaller TVC OHIO schools.  Meigs has 209, Athens over 290, Vinton County 271, Alexander 171.

Bumping this.

In a few years when Joe is our starting QB do you think Frank will allow him to walk-on to the basketball team as well?

Joey is well on the way to being a 4 star recruit..he loses the 5 because of the lower division he plays in. I can envision Daddy Burrow contemplating moving up in the ranks a bit when Urban Myer comes to Athens.

According to HuskerOnline.com, Joe visited Nebraska's practice on Wednesday. The article says he has an offer from Ohio and interest from Nebraska, Indiana, Michigan, Notre Dame and Ohio State. He' made an unofficial visit to Indiana. Burrow will participate in the Rivals Under Armour camp in Cincinnati on April 20th.

It'd be great to get him, but I'm not going to start holding my breath quite yet. He's going to be a junior next year?

This is a case where I forsee myself holding my breath. Not yet, but at some point!
