Isn't it likely that some of those DE's can gain a bit of weight (5-15 lbs or so) while possibly even gaining speed?

I think we've hit a new era in which our DE's are not so easily blocked--able to bring speed and power.

I want to see the DE's fast. I'd love to see Ohio get away from the all-out blitzes, and going more to zone bliztes, where the LB rushes, and the DE drops back in pass coverage. The all-out blitzes can give you some big plays, but you get burned a lot, so I prefer if they are fewer. If you can get pressure with 4 most of the time, and mix in zone bliztes to mess with the offensive line, that's the way I like to see it.

At this point, this looks like an awesome defensive class. I'm still hoping for at least 1 more DB, possibly 2.

Quick--somebody tell L.C. about the rest of OUr d-line, those DE's!

That last post was just the Big Manz, for you, Monroe. But, since you asked, here are the not-quite-as-big Manz at DE, as the lineup will look next year:

Kendrick Smith - Senior 6-3, 260
Eric Price - Redshirt Junior 6-4, 250
Casey Sayles - True Sophomore 6-3, 263
Tarell Bashem - True Sophomore 6-4, 250
Kurt Laseak - Redshirt Sophomore 6-4, 242
Trent Smart - Redshirt Freshman 6-3, 237
Kyle Kuhar - True Freshman 6-4, 250
Kent Berger - True Freshman 6-4 220

Branz and Barber will be lost this year, and Smith next year, but all the rest of the ones playing are very young. This looks to be a very strong position for years to come. For those who care about these things, all of these guys are 2-star recruits, with the exception of Eric Price, who was a 3-start recruit in 2011.

Not sure all of these guys will end up at DE's and we may see some added because of need.  For example from reports that I'm gettin Kuhar is closer to 300 than he is to 250...I look for him to be an OL or DT by the time he gets here.  Trent Smart was an excellent TE in high school and he could be moved since we have lost a few TE's to injury.

With guys like Sayles and Laseak we're gettin the 250-280 type TE's but could use some speed guys like Basham.  Verbal   LBer Brumfield at about 6'4"-220 could play rush DE.

The enigma guy is Price...where has he been?

2 more DB's in Washington and Jones......that's OK since we really need DB's.  These guys can play multiple positions and are really good athletes.

This class must be full or 1 or 2 away depending on attrition.....I know the kicker Green is gone and I'm sure there are a few more.

I like this class....not as excited as in past years....maybe because The Darksiders seem to have captured the forum.

Doc--There are no darksiders regarding the recruits.  There are just those of us who 1) are stunned at the number of bad games over the last year and wonder why and whether we can turn it around and 2) are annoyed by those here who refuse to acknowledge in any way that there's been some bad and who, thereby, are poised to prevent needed change.

We all hope that the recruits are top notch and are eager for next year.  A different next year.

Thanks Monroe....I feel better already...especially after getting RB White today and DL Frueauf from Moeller.
