Pulled out my freshman Ohio roster from 1970 when I walked on and of 43 players on the team 37 were from Ohio. In 1970 freshman were not eligible to play varsity so that's why we had so many players. I think we actually started with about 65 and it got cut down to 43. We only played 5 games but we played Ohio State in Athens and they were No. 1 in the country when we played them. Believe it or not Miami of Ohio was No. 10 in the country at one time during the fall. Of the 6 out of state players 3 were from N.J, one each from N.Y, MD and I was from WVA. I played at the same highschool Ty Goard played for in basketball George Washington which is always in the top 10 in football and basketball. Interesting how were Ohio is going back to recruiting Ohio hard.

So....Ohio State has never played in Athens. Just throwing that out there.

EDIT: Saw that you're just referring to the freshmen team. So I suppose it's possible they did?
