Via Mike Dyer of the Cincinnati Enquirer: Lakota West senior WR Tyler Jones verbally committed to Ohio University today, according to Lakota West coach Larry Cox.

Jones, who is 6 feet 1 and 185 pounds, also had other Mid-American Conference offers during the recruiting process.

Here's his hudl highlights. Despite the fact that he's listed in recruiting services as either a QB (which he didn't play) or as a WR, most of his highlights have him playing safety and returning kicks. I'm calling him a DB recruit.

I wonder if this means there was a de-commit?

Apparently Maxwell Howell, our 2015 recruit, just decommitted.

Can't find anything on this years class having a decommit yet but I'd wager thats right.

Tyler was first team all-GMC as a DB, and second team all-SW District, again, as a DB.

Might mean some other loss from someone already on the roster.

Probably that RS road grader or big TE that Frank's been hiding on the practice squad!

Another guy from a top Conference in SW Ohio.  First teamer vs very good competition so he should have a chance to be good at OHIO.  We keep getting GMC and GCL guys from Cincy and we will be fine!

Just thinking every year the roster will have players who are being overcome by younger players. Some might decide their best chance to play might be elsewhere. Sometimes the coaches might even help them find that opportunity.

Check a 5th year guy who has already earned his degree--perhaps he moves on to another program for a specific grad degree or having the sheepskin and no NFL prospects decides to "retire".
