Not so sure CB Nelson was a surprise.....Ted had mentioned his offer and we were the only FBS offwe.

My biggest surprise was no juco QB.....hopefully that means Windham will soon be back on the team....if he isn't already.

Does anybody know how the Joneses (rest of the MAC) did? I am excited about this class and hopefully they can accomplish mission 1968.

So this is kinda odd, 247 is showing that we signed another OT.

Maybe a preferred walk-on. It looks like he committed to Urbana. If we sign someone else it needs to be a QB. http://cincinnati.com/blogs/recruiting/2014/01/19/hamilto.../

HustleBelt has summaries for WMU, BG, CMU, Toledo and Kent. I'd imagine they're putting them up as they write them.

That seems likely. I did find that a person who is probably his brother, Adam Pankay, was a 2012 recruit out of Hamilton, and plays for West Virginia.

I see NIU and Toledo with a bunch of those FL, TX and other southern state recruits.  Perhaps Toledo and others are looking at places other than Ohio for some of their recruits?

Players that Ohio landed that also had offers from Toledo were Lowery (.8217), Duckworth (.8432), Berger(.7633), Brunson (.7817), and Washington. The players they landed that had Ohio offers were Marcus Whitfield (S from Massilon Washington, .8148), Terry Swanson (RB from Pennsylvannia,.7963),

Thanks for setting me straight L.C.  Still what happened to those FL, VA, GA, NC pipelines this year?

I got excited seeing the name Pankay thinking he had bloodlines to the former OL great from Penn State and the NFL.  But that's Irv Pankey. Turns out Irv has twin son's who play for Oregon State.  Devan is making the right choice in schools!

Speaking of decommits, I was checking out Marshall's unusually high Top 60 recruiting class and from the top it was a series of partial qualifiers who decommitted from SEC schools and are going to Marshall instead of JUCO. These days the BCS schools won't mess around with a player if he can't qualify and will take a few 2 star guys with the grades if they fit the need.

"Gant's reasons for the switch were tied to academics rather than a desire to de-commit, according to Keith DeMyer, his coach at Lake Gibson High School. Gant officially visited Marshall this past weekend.

"There were way too many ifs in his situation for Georgia," DeMyer said. "As much as he wanted to go (to UGA) -- and believe me it was a tear-jerking decision for him -- he just had to make a decision that was best for him down the road."

Gant can enroll in Marshall as a partial qualifier. Had he chosen to sign with Georgia, he would have wound up attending junior college, DeMyer said."

Apparently. It isn't the Ohio way, however. Partial qualifiers end up in Juco or at Prep school.

Idk. Partly I think it was that they got so many acceptances back early from Ohio that they didn't have room to tap into those pipelines.
