I'll take a stab at the math, too.
Seniors - Ted shows 13 Juniors in 2013, and so do I
Juniors - Ted shows 19 Sophomores in 2013, but I think Everhart and Chapman got scholarships, and you would have to think that Yaz would get one. I'd agree that Venham has most likely lost his and the rumor was that Bennett won't return. That gets us to 20 Juniors.
Sophomores - Ted shows 11 redshirt Freshmen, to which you have to add the true freshmen that played, Mangen, Stewart, S. Smith, Sayles, Basham, and Wood, which gets us to 17. Rumor is Tanner may be done, but he is offset by the return of Windham, so you are still at 17.
Redshirt Feshmen - Ted shows 20, from which you subract the 6 that played, and you are at 14. One on Ted's list is Leavitt, who will count in the next class, so you are at 13
Add these together, and you have 13+20+17+13=63, meaning 22 available to give.
The current list for 2014 should include Levitt, 5 Jucos (Boland, Bonnstetter, Clark, Murray, and Layton), plus 22 Freshmen, Duckworth, White, Walker, Irons, Brown, Dudziak, Langenkamp, McCray, Pruehs, Lowerey, Brunis, Meyer, Kuhar, Berger, Brunson, Brumfield, Washington, Dicillo, Royster, Jones, and Fox. Thus, I show 22 available to give, and 27 verbals, so at a first pass, we're over by 5. How can this be fixed?
1. Players that don't qualify yet - Let's start with a guess that Clark and Murray won't be in this class. Another that may have issues qualifying is Chek Washington, who hasn't yet taken the ACT, and there may be others.
2. Players leaving due to injury - Tanner, mentioned above, may be one, but there could be others.
3. Fifth year Seniors who have graduated leaving. Mark Smith is and example of a fifth year Senior, though he might also fit in the group above, given that he hasn't played the last two years due to injury. Atwell or Grady might be also fit here, if they have graduated.
4. Players who aren't playing - Eric Price is an example of someone that has never played. He might be hurt, or it may be something else, but, will he return?
5. Grades - Once in awhile a player fails to keep his grades up. Let's hope that didn't happen.
It isn't hard to believe that 3 players might leave the team, for one or more of these reasons, so it is possible that they will really sign all the verbals, and that they aren't expecting non-qualifiers and decommits.
Edit - Edited to remove Frueauf, who apparently is a preferred walkon.
