There are only 10 Seniors on this team. If you figure a couple will leave, there may be as few as 12 recruits in this class. Let's guess that they are being even more particular than usual about who they offer to.

I will go on record to say that we will have at least 15-16 recruits signed. We always have a few more than everybody says we will,

LC, sorry but, I cannot comprehend your Subject line with the sentence content.  What does "only 10 seniors on this team" have to do with "there may be as few as 12 recruits in this class"?  On another page it lists 15 signed letters and that's just on offense.  What am I missing?  Are you not predicting 20+ true freshman on the fall roster?

I believe he meant to say 2015.  Since we will only have 10 seniors on this years team, the incoming class in 2015 will be on the small side.

Indeed I meant 2015. My apologies, and I have fixed it. Even if the number does get to 15, it will still be a much smaller class than any class in recent years.

Given the small number of available positions, the Bobcats indeed seem to have upped the standard this year. Virtually everyone they have offered this year that has been rated is rated 3-stars or better. Here's the Scout.com list. Here is the 247Sports list. Here is the Rivals list.

I think this is a sound strategy. Since the class will be small anyway, go for the best. The last few classes have had 7-10 3-star players in them, so there is reason to think they could fill this class entirely, or almost entirely with 3-star players (which will make Casper happy). The class will probably fill a little slower initially, but once the class is about half full, it may fill the rest of the way quite quickly as people take the last few spots. With the last few recruiting classes, Ohio is going to be good for the next few years, so these recruits will be joining a program where the coaching staff is stable, and where they should be able to make it to a bowl every year.

L.C. has me pegged.  I'd take 12-15 3* guys any year!  Let's get em in 2015, coach em and win a MACC with em SOON!  My time is running out

The last two years they filled most of the class from the first batch of offers they sent out. Hopefully they will do so again, but if they don't get enough from this group, they can always send more offers out this summer.

I know Ted doesn't have as much time as he used to have to keep his recruiting page accurate, but he shows 179 offers last year, but only 57 this year.  That's another sign that they are being more selective this year.
