He is known to ESPN, but not rated:
http://tinyurl.com/pvgupz9
They list him as 5-6, 180, with a 5.18 40 time.

He is not known to 247Sports.

He is rated by Rivals as 2 stars, 5.4.
http://tinyurl.com/mskjfoq
They list him as 5-8, 189, and say that he also had offers from Cincinnati, Ga. Southern, W. Ky, and Stetson, but none from Ohio, so perhaps the Ohio offer was recent.

Scout.com also doesn't rate him.

His HUDL is:
http://www.hudl.com/athlete/3007991/menyelek-austin
They list his 40 time as a much more reasonable 4.65, but I don't see any video there, nor on youtube.

I'm predicting at least 1 defection from our running back stable. Way too many guys for the carries available next year.

I like having a stable of playmakers. Ideally, I would like to see the Papi/Daz/this guy used more like slot weapons and guys like Maleek/Oullette as between the tackles runners but the staff has not used guys in the slot like I expected them to with Daz. Jet sweeps and Screens anyone??

GSU thread saying he was supposed to commit there...

I know that Casper71 will be pleased beyond reason that we have a guy who had big interest from GSU.

Need some 215 lb or more guys at rb.

We are starting to do it now that we have a reputation for consistent football. Academics play a big part. I was watching the Buffalo telecast and they talked about Pruhes as a mechanical engineering major with a concentration in bioengineering. Most G5 schools don't have academics like that.

Well, he is from FL and he also had an offer from UC in addition to Ga So so I can't be too upset. If he was a legit 3-star guy I would be even happier. Maybe he is one of those "on the margin" guys who is really a 2++.

Well, Rivals rates 2 stars as 5.2, 5.3, and 5.4, and he's rated 5.4.

We don't have film on him, so we're just guessing, but my guess is that Williams is being recruited as the running back, and that Austin is being recruited as a slot guy, like Walker.

L.C., check out my post in FB under Ohio talent. Interesting red on the different approaches to recruiting usedby OSU nd MSU. I guess we are a Dantonio type and not so much Urban meyer.

I saw it, Casper, and I thought it was a good link. I didn't have time to read it thoroughly, and I plan to read it again when I have time, but I read enough to agree that Ohio is trying to so the same as Michigan State. I do think there was a gap there, while Ohio was turnover at Recruiting Coordinator where Ohio didn't do a very good job of it, though.

Please note the BGSU Roster for 2014. Did I just count 13-14 FL kids? I always say look at what your opponent is doing and figure out a way to do it better. I'd like to see 12-15 FL kids on the OHIO roster soon! Here's one..

I think academics were going to be a concern. Probably explains D2.

21 to a 25 is a tough jump. Lots of 21s in huddles across the country.

Why does he need a 25 to qualify? Is his GPA really low? I know kids with way lower ACT scores who have gotten into Ohio

Not strictly about getting into Ohio. The NCAA has specific requirements for a player to "qualify" academically. Among those requirements are (a) having completed a specified set of core classes, and obtaining a suitable combination of GPA and SAT or ACT scores. For instance, a student with a lower GPA would need a higher ACT or SAT score, while a student with a higher GPA wouldn't need as high a Test score. Again, these requirements are separate from admission to the school. Details here: http://fs.ncaa.org/Docs/eligibility_center/Quick_Referenc...
