Thanks to BOOM! for the tip to search scoutingohio.com, it appears that Ohio has an (unconfirmed) verbal from Davon Hamilton of Pickerington Central, a 6-4 285lb DT. We start off the year the way Monroe would like it, with a Big MANZ. He also has an offer from Toledo.
His Rivals page
His Scout page (lots of articles and info, if you are a member)
His 247Sports page
His ESPN page

Ohio has landed some good players from Pickerington Central. Last year Ohio got Brennen Dudziak and Andrew Meyer. Others from there are Josh Kristoff and Sebastian Smith.

Here's a video of him at camp. He looks like he will be a very good one.
Also, here is his Hudl page. He is mostly playing offense, but looks much better on defense.

Let's hope this gets confirmed, and isn't a scoutingohio error.

I would doubt that Hamilton has given a verbal. In a May 1st Rivals article, he did say that he has Ohio and Kentucky ranked highly. But it also says he has visits to BC and WVU coming up and that he won't make a decision any time soon.

Excerpt:
The defensive tackle currently doesn't have any leaders but hopes to be able to narrow down his list of schools towards the latter half of his senior season of football. He plans to continue taking visits over the summer as well as all five of his official visits during the fall. Hamilton also said he will continue taking unofficial visits through the spring of 2015 if he has not made a decision at that point.

OK Ted. I can tell you how I found it. Go to scoutingohio.com, and even if you are not a coach, and thus can't log in, you can do limited searches, and can see limited information. What you can see is the players picture, who has offered him, and if he has given a verbal to someone. The verbal shows up as the schools name, with a padlock next to it.

On their site, make sure you search for "2015", but then you can do any other search you choose. As an example, search for position=DT, year=2015, offered by school=Ohio, and check the box next to FBS verbal. That search will bring back three players:
1. The first is DaVon, who shows a padlock next to "Ohio".
2. The next player has a padlock next to "Indiana" and a bunch of offers. His jersey says "ROSS" and number 72. Using your recruiting page, this is Stephen Stepaniak, who plays for Hamiton Ross, and who you have recorded as an offensive guard. He also shows up if you search for offensive guards or tackles.
3. The third player has a padlock next to "Kentucky", and somewhat less offers, and he is number 70 in red and white. Using your recruiting information, this may be Larry Wells, who you have recorded as an offensive tackle. He also shows up if you search for offensive tackles.

As of right now his only other offer is Toledo. We were his first offer, and it seems like he likes us.

6'4", 285 lbs. as a HS junior? Yes, please.

Here's the article that Ted cited. Here's an earlier article from just after he got the Ohio offer.

I can't find any kind of confirmation that he's given a verbal, but I certainly hope he ends up at Ohio. He'd be at the top of my list, and I see he's on Doc's Wish List, too.

The odd thing is that scoutingohio.com is a division of 247Sports.com, now, and while scoutingohio shows Hamilton and Hale, neither show up on 247Sports.com. I guess if they ultimately appear there it will mean they have been confirmed.

Mark Porter from ScoutingOhio.com just tweeted that Hamilton was a verbal to Ohio (and confirming the info already on his site).  I hope he's right as this would be a huge recruiting win for Ohio given others involved. Still no word from Scout and Rivals. Normally Scout.com and ScoutingOhio.com work hand-in-hand reporting commitments.

That does seem correct; not long after ScoutingOhio showed him as a verbal to Ohio, Scout.com followed suit and reported him as a verbal to Ohio. This is interesting to me because on the ScoutingOhio homepage,  the masthead includes not the Scout.com logo, but the 247Sports.com logo. For what it's worth, 247Sports has not picked up yet that Ohio has even offered him, much less that he has accepted, though now someone is "predicting" that he will become a Bobcat.

I love it.

"I really liked {Solich's) coaching style. I heard a lot about all the bowl games [Ohio has] went to, and how many players they've sent to the league, and also because my defensive coach at my high school is an Ohio graduate," Hamilton told Hustle Belt about why he pledged to become a Bobcat.

That we are having guys flip to PITT in early June shows that we are on the right track with recruiting.

Uh, I am not sure what track this puts OHIO on.  In this day and age, identifying 3 star recruits is relatively simple.  OHIO's problem has been signing (and with this guy) keeping enough of them to really move the program forward.  So, put me in the group that continues to say "we need more 3 star recruits and when they get to OHIO we need to coach them up".  That is a recipe for even more success...I know, I know, I sound like a broken record!

I agree with you, Casper. I hate seeing decommits. That's 2 for the year, Hamilton, and Maxwell Howell (who now has 3 Big Tenfinity offers, Indiana, Purdue, and Maryland). Yes, it's a sign that Ohio is going after the right players, but we already knew that. Unfortunately it may be a sign that, with the Snob-5 trying to move away from the rest, that we may see increasing separation between the haves and the have nots. I see no reason to throw in the towel, though - Ohio still has a lot to offer, and they should be able to land some players that have snob-5 offers.

As for Hamilton, I can understand why he might want to play in a snob-5 conference, yet in moving away from Ohio, he's missing a golden opportunity. DT is a position of huge need for Ohio this year. The only DT's on the roster who are not Junriors or Seniors are Aloese and Porter, plus the walkon Frueaf. By the time any incoming recruit is a redshirt Freshman, Ohio will be very thin there.

Hoping for a headliner defense. If Ohio can make some noise defensively, they will come.

This is a very good point. If Ohio's defense is as good as I hope it will be this fall, there are going to be some recruits that say "I want to be a part of that", just as the improvement to Ohio's offense a few years ago has brought better offensive recruits.

Watch out or you'll get this type of response:

"I'm sorry, did he re-open his recruitment in such a way that Ohio is involved whereby this becomes relevant?"

Sorry, couldn't resist.

Urban has shown, he won't lay off until signing day is done
