Is Ohio raiding BC for more talent? Scout.com is reporting the recruitment of Matthew Seymour from New Westminster Secondary, BC. The 6'0" 175 CB/WR is reported to run a 4.42 40.

Here's more info on him (he's a good student, too):

and his Hudl:

He seems to have really top acceleration, and a great vertical, two excellent traits for a CB.

When I read the subject line of this thread, I thought we were getting a transfer from Boston College. It is interesting that we are apparently getting another kid from British Columbia. Some schools have their Florida pipeline and we've got the BC pipeline. Hope it develops into a good fertile area for finding future OHIO stars.

If this guy is indeed coming, then one needs to figure out where the decommit is.

Might be another medical or a transfer out.

40 times, like ht. & wt. data must be taken with a grain of salt. We have a LB shown with a 40 times from 4.5 to 4.87. My son, 6'0" & 215 was listed by his high school coach on the game program at 6'2" & 230. For some reason they inflate.

I saw that. I edited the title to reflect that. I still think he'd make a great CB, and might see the field faster there, but either way, he's a player.

It's good to see Maleek selling Matthew on Ohio. Maleek's a long way from home, and sometimes kids that far from home get homesick. Now he has someone else from the same area to keep him company. I'm looking forward to seeing him on the field next year.

Some years ago I recall that Kent was recruiting heavily in Canada because it couldn't attract enough quality States players. Kent didn't seem to benefit. Hopefully Ohio's Canadian recruits can appreciably strengthen the program.

It's not like they are overly committed to Canada. I figure they wouldn't take a second player from Canada if they weren't satisfied with the first one, and if they don't like the second one, they may not take a third.

I assume Coach Ward's experience in the Pacific Northwest is the connection to BC.
