Per Rivals, Javon has given a verbal to Ohio. He also had offers from Charlotte, Cincinnati, FIU, Miami (Oh), Mississippi, Utah, Wake Forest, Georgia Southern, and Western Kentucky.

Javon is 6'0", 190, and plays Safety or OLB. He is rated 5.4 from Rivals, is unrated by 247Sports, unrated by Scout, and is rated 3 stars/73 by ESPN.

Here is his Hudl.

He definitely is a player.

Wait a minute, how the heck did we beat out FIU for this guy?  Just kidding. But looks like an interesting prospect.  Can't be much room left in this class so probably smart for him to sign now if this is where he wanted to go.  I love getting some of that FL speed!

Beat out a good SEC team and a PAC-16 team? I'll take it.

Looks like a great athlete . Should be someone that plays early.

His game reminds me a lot of the DBs you see in the SEC. All those guys just carry themselves with some extra nastiness and intensity and I see that in Javon's film.

I see he is listed as a safety. With two starting safety's graduating, I wonder if our coaches have told him he has a good chance to start/play next year.

Our defense should be absolutely stacked next year.

I read another review on this young man. Mirrors what has been said above. He has the physicality to step up as a safety into the box to really help stop the run. I like the ways he plays. There is a definite toughness to his game.

This is a strong commitment. This kid can play.

Hagan's team was on ESPNU this morning playing in what appeared to be a Florida vs. Washington champions game (which didn't really sound like something that would be sanctioned after the championships have been played, but whatev...). Ohio and Frank got a shout out after Hagan made a stop.

(I didn't end up watching the whole thing b/c the cold meds I've been on the past couple days are REALLY good at making me go to sleep on the couch).

Twitter tells me this young man was in Athens this weekend with Jeff Christian prior to his commitment. Me thinks there is a DB alliance.

LC - are any of these DBs big enough/structured to grow into LBs?

Certainly Hagen is. He's listed as a Safety or OLB. I think they plan to use him at Saftey, though. It's going to be an awesome set of DBs, Hagen and Mayne Williams at Safety, Christian and Howell at CB, on top of the players already on roster. I really like all the defensive players this year, actually.

BCAT2, you also should include Alexander, a Redshirt Freshman Safety that was moved to OLB this last year. (Grillot was also a Safety, moved to LB).

In addition to Hagan, I think Howell is big enough to step into the box and stop the run. There was talk he could play safety, but with Williams and Hagan I bet LC's breakdown of positions above is correct.

Thanks. Last question. While some want bigs. I like speed. Safe to say the LB and DB players we are going to be putting on the field will be as a group faster than what we have had? Can't find 40 speeds but they sound athletic.
